What the heck is up with Burnside Ave in Gonzales?

So today I was driving between Airline and and HWY 30. I noticed three payday loan/quick cash shops. So then I started counting and saw total of 18 That is only about a 3 mile stretch. And I probably missed some. Will Burnside soon become the Florida Boulevard of Gonzales?

Gonzales has really fallen hard over the past decade
It is a shame too because that city has everything it needs to be successful
1. great paying jobs in close proximity
2. a great school district (although the EA population brings it down)
3. Lots of retail/food options

Lived in Ascension for most of my life and I'll tell you I always disliked Gonzales. Other than that sweet bowling alley/arcade/movie theatre, the rest of that city has been stuck in a rut for years it seems.
