No. Poster wants to know if they use a policy he can successfully evade in order to be hired.

you can be subjected to randoms

How many people in white collar, office positions actually get randomly drug tested with big companies. I mean completely out of right field randomly drug tested.

I'm serious about this. I've worked in a variety of office settings and never heard of this ever happening.

Does it?

I figured that was one of the perks of educating yourself and getting a white collar job. You've earned the benefit of the doubt and you have to put up with less tiny bullshite like that because of it. Am I wrong on this?

Many of them do. Have found smaller office jobs usually have an initial drug test but don't continue with randoms.

Last three big companies I have worked for all three had randoms for their office workers.

Well the only difference here is one is still currently illegal while the latter is not...

I could be wrong but Im pretty sure that drug "usage" is not illegal. Its the possession of the drugs which is illegal. Thats why if an officer walked up to you in the middle of you smoking weed, youd be charged with possession.

I know its symmantics(sp?) but if you lean over and take a puff while someone else holds the blunt, Id have to think all you have done is possibly disqualify yourself from some jobs.

Entergy - hair test or pee test

Hair if its for a field position - Dangerous work. Piss test for admin positions. Is it fair? No, but companies make their own rules on that.

fricking pathetic. just go on the dole and be done with it.

I'm all for smoking, but if it is keeping you from making a living, you need to reevaluate your life.

If it's a piss test, which seems logical, he's clean and isn't evading anything. Typically if a company does hair follicle they will do random afterwards. Poster has said they don't want to deal with that.

So, I stand with what said.

I've been working for a global company in Houston for 6+ years and I've been random drug tested 3 times.

For those of you who smoke dope and work for, or are thinking about working for a complany that tests, can you imagine the shame and humiliation of having to tell your wife/family/friends that you lost your job due to something as stupid and utterly preventable as smoking dope? You really need to think about what's important to you, where your priorities are, and what's at stake here.

I'm not saying that this thread is a troll. However if someone wanted to troll the OT it seems like a thread about drug testing is the hot issue right now. The last two threads on the subject have gone for a good amount of pages. Apparently this issue really pushes a button with a lot of you.

Jesus Christ people, the dude is just trying to figure out if they company wants to know if he was smoking a little weed MONTHS AGO, before he even THOUGHT about applying for the job.

It sounds like he's already quit smoking and is good to pass a piss test but concerned when a POTENTIAL employer wants to know what he was doing in fricking November when they weren't even paying him for his time.

THC will show up in the hair for as long as he doesnt get a haircut.

It takes about 2 or 3 cuts for all the hair that was in you to grow out. Depends on rate of growth.
So technically he could be stopped smoking and all grown up and fail a hair test.

When are people gonna learn to just drink alcohol because it use to be illegal but now govt says its OK.
People that drink alcohol and condemn smoking are the best

Yeah. Strange that a bunch of people transitioning from college to the job market are concerned about new, more accurate testing methods for past illegal drug use.

Your sarcasm might have a point if that was what the majority of the responses in this thread have been about. There is very little discussion of "new, more accurate testing." There is a lot of comments, like your own above, deriding the person as an idiot for even asking the question.

Pompous jackass suits you. You are just looking for an excuse to show the anonymous internet how much better you are than them. Bravo. I'm impressed.

I'm taking a hair test for an administrative position Friday. I was a daily toker until a week ago. I'm bleaching and re-dying my hair my natural color (probably twice) and then using a commercial masking agent the day of the test. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Govt research says cosmetic bleaching removes 60% of metabolites. More if you do it multiple times or if you have light, thin hair.

I'm glad you're not trying to score any points with the internet through this response either.

But my point was that it was mentioned how drug testing seemed to be a hot issue here as if you did not know why. I used sarcasm to explain the obvious without resorting to calling you a dumb bastard.
