Testing for pot gives the company a way to reveal that you don't like following rules, no matter how trivial.

Or testing for pot reveals that you enjoy the particular intoxicating effects of a plant that grows in the ground naturally and tends to stay in the body at cheaply detectable levels for a long time.

Can they develop a test that shows whether you exceed the speed limit? Or that you voluntarily contact the gov't to pay taxes on items purchased online? Maybe a test to determine whether someone enjoys pirated moves or music.

All these are "against the rules" as well.

You assume way too much about me.

Nuclear is a whole different ballgame.

That the one in Killona?

I used to go there, as well as to the ones in St. Francisville and Port Gibson, MS on a weekly basis.

So, free all the convicts, write pink slips to all he drug warriors.

Yeah, this sounds like an awesome American economy

1) Free all those that are arrested for simple possession

2) I believe that if you decriminalize drugs, or even make it legal to possess, then it would strip the power away from those that sell on the streets. Money is power, and if you have a controlled system in place, then that power will shift. I never said write pink slips, you are inferring that.

Not the music (unless a felony), but the speeding ticket and traffic violations are open game on my employment. Driving a company car opens me up to constant monitoring, not just random test like drug use.

It was a comment on Corkfather's assumption that businesses set themselves up for a competitive disadvantage because they drug test.

Well, it is rather stupid. You'll hire an army of habitual drinkers, but exclude someone that may have better all around scores, but who smoked a joint after a Christmas party?

That's fricking mental.

(I have nothing against habitual drinkers)

I'm trying to say there are a lot more people would fail a drug test tomorrow than you'd think.

Just be sure to test the people making the rules as well, they're usually the ones with the most to hide.

Ah, just give them a government check.

What percentage of the prison population is in there, lets say 2%. So we are nearing 9% unemployed. They get some government checks too.

We are getting on the government payroll...good plan as well.

I've never been under the assumption that legalized drinking is a perfect system.

Do they really measure if you ever exceed the speed limit? Or fail to come to a complete stop at a 4-way when no one else is there?
I guarantee you you have broken "the rules" within the last month because there are too damn many.

I don't even like marijuana and I can see the pointlessness of it's prohibition.

Drug dealers don't report income to begin with so they're still getting their food stamps and welfare checks while making a decent living selling something that would be worth much less if it were legal.

If we are talking hair follicle and including prescription drugs I will be assuming positive drug results in the 80% range.

You are also inferring something that I didn't say

I'm not paying you to frick up your life. We are already writing checks to those people, in form of prisons

You're just yanking my chain now. You think drinking should be even less legal than it is now? (Where you can fight in a god-forsaken sandbox but not buy a bottle of scotch!)

{by the way, my buddy just got me a bottle of Laphroaig triple wood. I'm stoked}

I take a risk of my employment when I break those laws, just like I would smoking pot. If I get caught by a cop or by a drug test the results are the same.

I can see why to legalize it, but can see why a company will still outlaw it. If I can't prove you aren't currently under the influence then I don't want you taking it on my site. Assuming I am liable for your actions.

Most are taking pain pills, probably should legalize opiates.

Exactly, diminish the value of drugs by creating a open market. People are going to get their hands on drugs regardless, might as well control it. Limit the black market and you would see crime drop incredibly, in my opinion

Another way to think about it. Would you go buy heroin, crack, meth, coke, weed, or anything else for that matter, tomorrow if it were legal? Probably not.

Just saying that justifying the legality of one drug with another that is out of control is not good logic.

All of those bottles are known to be bad. I'll give you further information on where to leave the bottle so that it may be disposed of properly.
