Steen's syrup factory tour
great idea. I took this tour as a youngster in scouts. But, the cane is no longer sent to Abbeville for grinding, it goes to Jeanerette and Patoutville, which may or may not offer tours.

It is cool and educational to see the process.

A walk around tour of Acadian Village and Vermilionville. Make it educational and teach the kids how life was for those who eventually settled in South LA after being exiled from Nova Scotia

Perhaps they can also do a swamp tour of the Basin and see alligators, and bald Eagles. Tour of Avery Island and the McIlhenney Plantation - Tabasco

Introduce them to cajun girls. That's all they will want to do anyway.

From Science museums to MMA & roids to bayou island tours to syrup factory tours

Sounds quite eclectic and something for everyone could be found to do

Go help out a crawfish farmer and make a little cash. It's fun if its not a job.

I've got a buddy called Peanut who can show them the time of their lives with a bottle of cough syrup and a cast net.

I laughed way to hard at this.

You get a line and I'll get a pole. We'll go fishing in that craw dad hole, honey baby mine.

Go to the Corner Bar, best bar in the state.

He could hit puberty soon and shoot up to a giant 5'5" and play center and tower over everyone in the Lafayette Rec league.

It ain't the gas price baw. It's the jacked up F-250 that you have to either be smashing the gas or the breaks.

Seems to be the most useful info so far, though the cough syrup and a cast net is something I might try myself, so thanks for that too.

Reds. Where pretty much every kid aged 10-14 grew up in the summer. So many crazy stories from that place!
