Make an appointment with a chiropractor. Seriously.

On a longer term basis, I really recommend doing yoga style stretching. I have a very bad back and have very little problems as long as I keep at my stretching routine.

My sisters back was frickED and yoga got her back to 100%

Alcohol.

I "got right" around the beginning of 2013 and started having spinal shocks like a son of a bitch. Couldn't tie my shoe, bend over of wash my face, or sit in my chair for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Picked up the old Glenny again and was right as rain.

as the others say, heat will relax your back...so take a hot bath/shower or use a heating pad...

otherwise, Doan's backache pills work well for that...prepare to sleep, though...

I've had neck and back spasms since 18. I'm 29 now.

One thing I've learned is immediately after the spasm isn't good for it as it causes it to inflame. what does the trick for me is rest, ice and anti-inflammatories for the first 12-24 hours. After that more rest and heat for a day or two.

Then I'll slowly work into some static and dynamic stretching and cardio til I'm back to 100%.

As others have said STRETCH. I have become very disciplined with my stretching, back and core strengthening. Prevention is key.

Well I got them at almost 30, and at 32 haven't had them since. I'd never felt so helpless in my life (outside of a ruptured Achilles tendon).

You need to dead lift regularly.

Even if it's light weight. You've got to as you get older.

Heavy lifting moving shite around the yard this weekend

product called Calm. its magnesium and calcium.

or take a pill if you just have a pill with minerals in it.

alternate heat and cold. see how that is.
a LITTLE stretching after things have calmed down.

no lifting at all for weeks. make a sign so you do not forget and hate yourself when you make it come back. heal 100% before you do anything using your back. get out of bed without expecting to use the usual gestures.

I went to spine Dr. last Thursday, got injection that lasted until Saturday, I even have a slight numbness, on the inside of my left thigh, and my groin feels like it's pulled. Yesterday was the first day it really felt better and was able to get some rest.

Heating pad all day, and some light stretching, Planks, hamstring stretches, crunches are working

no shite man

i had one where i called in sick to work for 4 days, could barely get out of bed, had to take a taxi to the doc office

worst part is that I've had so many over such a long span that whenever doctors pull my chart they think i'm looking for pain pills for kicks now

it took me forever to start stretching like i should

i added romanian deadlifts as well, i feel it's helped out a lot with overall back strength

i'm not who you asked but i do lots of knee-to-chest stretches, 3rd world squats as low as i can go with out weight, tons of hamstring stretches and a good one they gave me at physical therapy was laying on your back pick up both knees at a 90 and lay to one side of your body keeping your body flat and switch several times

speaking on this comment, i also switched to a stand up desk at work, i alternate sitting and standing throughout the day and that has helped a lot

sorry for such a long post but i feel like a fricking expert at this shite now unfortunately...
