No, but it's not that easy getting a good job.

my first annual salary, in my mid-twenties, was $100K.

on one hand, that seems like beans given what i've been through since, but the salary (everything else being equal) still seems like decent money as long as you aren't a slave to the job and don't live somewhere like NYC or Silicon Valley.

But I'd say a steady $200,000 "salary" (forget rental income and other biz venture income) would feel to me like that $100,000 did then (12 years ago).

some of you people must be horrible with money

Me and the wife don't make $150k and we live pretty nice, even with an 8 month old

nice house, new cars, vacations, etc and still able to save for retirement and whatnot

My wide and I don't make $100k combined and we live nice enough. An extra $50k + would be awesome I wonder about the lifestyle of people saying they need $150k + to "be comfortable."

We pull in about $200k and it doesn't feel like that much. Small house, kids, average cars. I guess some people spend money much differently.

My wife and I just had this talk last weekend. We make a little over $180K and we live a very average life. Of course the 2 kids in private school eats up a large chunk of it but damn man. That's a lot of fricking money.

I think the goal of everyone should be one thing "minimize effort, maximize income".

You may make 200K but you're working 90 hour weeks. F that. I rather just be comfortable.

Of course, ballers gonna ball.

..none of this adds up.. 15-16k monthly is a decent amount.. What are we calling average cars and small house?

I need to marry a woman with a good income and smart. These $12/hr secretaries will never support themselves.

In LA? Still 100k.

I hate to dismiss it but $100k is nothing. I made $100k in 2013.

I agree. I have a fairly tightly controlled budget, too. It's still nothing.

I can't even contemplate how people who make $50k (which was me 10 years ago) do it.

I think only 20% of household incomes in the U.S. are 100k or above. So 100k is still a big deal for an individual to make. Salaries have just not kept up with inflation.
