My family and loved ones matter over my stuff. Random strangers though? Especially someone committing a crime. Yea they rank wayyyy lower in value than my stuff.

There is a pretty good chance that if one kills a thief who is posing no physical threat to anyone the person doing the killing is going to at best have some tough times ahead. They very well may wind up in jail, they may wind up paying for a wrongful death suit....in those instances the killer's stuff was more important than their family because their family is going to suffer even greater loss than they would have from the actions of the thief. I get it, it sounds manly to claim you would shoot a 7 year old kid who was running from your garage with a drill motor...I know, it makes some of you get an erection just fantasizing about it...but almost everyone of you are simply not being honest....you would do what 99.9% of civilized people do and watch as that 7 year old kid runs off because we ain't cold blooded killers.

SO is there ANY situation or ANY thief some of you who would kill would not? Lets say its your neighbor of 35 years and they steal your newspaper off the lawn? You going to blast the bastard or are you going to be a pussy and go get it back?

What if it is a 7 year old kid eating an apple out of your tree???? Surely you would shoot that motherfricker graveyard dead, no? To do other wise would indicate you ain't the billy bad arse you pretend to be.

I actually know an old boy who chased a 9 year old girl down and put her in the Hospital in Galveston, Texas for stealing an Orange out of a tree in his front yard. He saw her doing it, agged on by her friends, and when he shouted at them they took off and he gave chase...and tackled that little girl from behind breaking her arm collarbone and three ribs. It cost that stupid motherfricker about $350K. I am certain that most of you in this thread would do the same thing if it was GUARANTEED the same thing would happen to you? I know better, because I know for a certainty that stupid motherfricker would not do it again....talk about fricking around and finding out....he lost $350k and in the process a succesful small business due the fallout over his mauling of a 9 year old girl. He eventually lost his wife and his kids are now estranged from him. He has moved out of Texas altogether and is living in Southern Illinois and working in construction. He destroyed his life over a fricking orange because he was a fricking idiot. And many of you claim you would do the same....

That is the criminals decision. He should choose wisely.

Ask that person for their address and if they have locks on their homes.

Is your stuff worth a life?
Is a bruised eye worth a life?
Is a broken bone worth a life?
Is your childs non-life threatening injuries worth a life?
Is a 3 day stay in a hospital worth a life?
Is your life worth a life?

You can be compassionate all you want, but eventually, the theft will progress from "your stuff" to your health. How much abuse are you willing to take before you make the decision that your attacker must finally accept consequences for his actions?

Compassion for the criminal rarely causes a criminal to change his ways. Trends of violence or action towards criminals, more often than not, do. You don't see a lot of thefts at a police station do you? You don't see Francis Ngannou getting mugged do you? You don't see active duty special ops forces carrying their weapons getting mugged do you? Because the threat of force is a deterrent. A good guy with a gun is what it takes to stop a bad guy with a gun. I'm not advocating murder or an adult attacking a child to prove a lesson. That is 1 end of the extreme that is not the norm so your anecdote, while shocking as it may be, is the rarity of the situation. Innocent people getting mugged by predators is the norm and it is almost always the criminal who is greater threat than the victim.

My stuff .... especially the sentimental priceless stuff that cannot be replaced.

We had this happen to us.

Then we caught the guy .... a professional thief.

the fact that so many people want to pretend otherwise is disturbing enough...

Definitely disturbing. As I read this thread, I was surprised at the number of pipehitter operators that are capable of killing someone over chump change. Not only would the legal fees hurt, but they’d have to live the rest of their lives knowing they killed someone over a small material possession.

The criminals appreciate your tireless efforts in keeping them on the streets.

ok, so you see a guy walk up your driveway and start riding off with your bike

Hell, I’m gonna holler “Thank You” as he rides away…. SOB of a bike always left my arse hurting no matter what gel pad seats I put on it.

Now if he’s heading out with my hunting or fishing gear that’s a different outcome…. He WILL be MIA for the rest of what would have been his hypothetical future
