I wish. All of those products seem to make my nose even runnier. I want something that puts that shite on lockdown. Nothing in, nothing out. It sucks, but it's better than using 10 boxes of Kleenex.

You could stick a tampon in your nose.

I use both an antihistamine and flonase

I've been using Nasacort and Zyrtec. As far as I can tell, the impact on runniness has been precisely zero (if anything, it's made it worse).

Have you tried an antihistamine nasal spray such as Nasacort or Flownase?

ETA: You could try a Netti Pot with lake water.

My baby girls have been having the same problem for the past month but there too little to give them too much medication. They play outside after it rains every afternoon. Some allergies are made worse during rainy season. Go see an ENT if you can

You could try afrin. I've always felt like it clears my nose up so much that it almost burns when I breathe

Terrible allergies = constantly running nose. But every single product seems to be designed to "relieve congestion". What I want is total congestion so the nose doesn't run. Does this exist as a product?

no, no such product over the counter exists to plug up your nose. [ besides a tampon ]
just keep a roll of select-a-size BOUNTY handy to blow nose in, [ works great ]

nose should stop running in a cpl more days....[ happened to me too ]

DOs:
- Get a saline nasal spray. Use it before bed, and then blow your nose.
- Start using nasonex. If you are really suffering that bad you need to be using it every day. Using it once and then not using it again for a while makes it useless.
- Try a different antihistamine. Not all are created equal. I would look into allegra (fexofenadine) which is also OTC.
- Use Afrin for really, really bad runny nose.

DONTs
- DO NOT use Afrin every day. It works by constricting the blood vessels in your nose, and chronic use over time can lead to chronic bloody nose or tissue breakdown.
- DO NOT use a neti pot unless you are using it with sterile water (ie boiled). It's extremely rare but there are cases of people using neti pots with tap water and dying due to an amoeba that invades your brain through your nose.

Actually, there are drugs that have this side-effect. They're called alpha-blockers like doxazosin. Unfortunately, they are used to reduce blood pressure or help with BPH. There is a prescription antihistamine spray called azelastine (astelin) that works great but tastes like a handful of crushed aspirin. If combined with a nasal steroid like nasocort, it will dry you out to the point of nose bleeds.

I had the worst allergies this year. Lasted a couple of months. The only thing that worked was benadryl at night and zyrtec-d during the day. Good luck.

Sudafed. The real stuff from behind the counter. The kind with pseudoephedrine.@

This is the right answer. Just don't take at night. I did Sun night and no sleep for me.

Get 12hr generic sudafed. Cheap and works so well. Some states need a prescription, but fortunately don't need script in Alabama. Hopefully, the OP lives where he/she doesn't need a prescription.

Psuedoephrendrine with allegra/zyrtec/claritin. Any of the antihistamines plus D include that combo.
