Seen your post earlier this year about your recs on refridgerators. We are building and need to purchase an entire kitchen of appliances. Seen this one today and can get it fairly cheaper than posted in this ad. What are your thoughts on kitchenaid products? Thanks

That's an awesome fridge. I would be confused where to put everything! Kitchenaid is good. What brands do you own now? Go with the brand you know. I have may tag, LG and whirlpool I don't stick with one brand :(

My dad has a fancy kitchenaid at the camp and its a POS. The ice machine is a joke and it's always freezing up .

Kitchen Aid is top notch, can't go wrong with their products.

We have that fridge and love it. Also have the matching dishwasher, oven and microwave. No complaints.

We spent like $3000 a year ago on one
2 sided doors
Really cool frig but ice machine sucks
Always freezin up and ice sensor level is way low
Has IR's to detect level and when "full" by sensors its only half full
Nappey.. Can ice sensors be adjusted ?

This one had me curious on how it operated since the whole upper part is a fridge but has an ice maker in the door

We went with the 28cuft Samsung with the four doors and have loved it. Samsung and Kenmore Elite tend to be the highest rated fridges year in and out. The ice maker makes some seriously good ice so far. We didn't go with one brand. We got Samsung washer and dryers and the fridge but will go Bosch Ascenta on the dish washer. We are still redesigning the kitchen so we don't know if we will get a range or drop in cook top with wall ovens. That will determine what brand that we get. The Kenmore Elite ventahood is the best that we have ever had. Your mileage may vary.

Kitchen Aid built ins are top notch. Kitchen aid stand alones are fancy Maytags and Whirlpools.
The optic sensor with the door ice bin is a constant complaint for people.
No adjustment, here is the info for diagnostics if it's not working. It either works or it doesn't, if it's not working it needs to be replaced.
I do like Whirlpool fridge products but it's hard to recommend new units because most of what I see is 3-4 years old. I do note design flaws and the only brand with a lot to me is GE, but like others have said the Koreans need to get out of here with the flex ice tray.
I prefer machines that use the old modular icemakers. You know the one you can buy at home depot for $49 if yours fails. Used to only be three types of icemakers in ALL fridges. Whirlpool standard, Frigidaire standard and GE. Now it's all over the place.
read reviews on ice production, because I can't tell you much there. The only Whirlpool brand I don't like is Jenn-Air as they seem to be overly complicated and costly to fix, ditto with Thermador badged Whirlpool fridges.
So in short, I have nothing bad to say about Kitchenaid.

Stuff about 8 years old. Mico wave suxx. Fridge, even after full replacement after 1 year, water dribbles from dispenser. Dishwasher is pretty darn good.

usually due to high mineral content of the water causing mineral deposits to stick in the valve solenoid. This allows water to drip. Another issue is a voltage trickle on the pcb board (if equipped) usually the valve though. A huge problem on washers. If your washer randomly has water in it sometimes, you need a new valve solenoid. Common problem in areas that use hard water.

We have a Kitchenaid refrigerator that is noisy, spits water and ice on the floor, doors that make a popping noise really bad, the ice compartment keeps clogging up and now the cooling temperature is not good. Outside in the garage is or 30+ year old Whirlpool that serves as an overflow and beer fridge and has never let us down. Just my experience.
On a positive note we have a Kitchenaid dishwasher that is so quiet that it sounds like a coffee maker.

This just gets more confusing as I go. Sounds like every brand has its flaws. Just looking for the brand w the least i guess. Should i look for an ice maker that is in the freezer instead of in the fridge like this model? Seems like this wouldnt work due to temp differences.

We've had Kitchenaid appliances in our last two homes. Overall, we haven't had many issues but can't say I'm completely satisfied. Our current appliances are just over 3 yrs old. We had a $193 repair to the fridge earlier this week. Needed. New drain kit. It was leaking water into the bottom of the freezer.
Microwave just starting acting up recently. We just have to restart it, but not sure if it's a sign of a larger problem coming soon.
We've had to replace the sliders things in our dishwasher. They sell a replacement kit because it's a common problem.
Our oven has been fine but it doesn't heat real evenly. Gas stove hasn't been a problem.
I guess the few issues we have are typical for the usage, however, I wouldn't mind shopping around if we had to start over.

We have had kitchenaid, Bosch and Subzero/Wolf.
Never and I mean never go with a subzero fridge. POS has been repaired 3 times in less than 18 months.
On the other hand, the Wolf range top is the baddest thing I have ever cooked on indoors.
When it comes to a fridge, I would take the kitchenaid all day. Bosch makes a pretty seeet double oven microwave combo.

Nap
Your link to diagram is not our ice maker.
Ours has 3 IR lites in rear top that point down into the ice. THere is no receiver or reflector. The lites shine into the ice.
Frig mod is KRSF505ESS00
