What age do people start referring to one as "old"?

If you fall down and people are concerned instead of laughing at you.

50 for someone middle age
Older than you are for old people is old

I think most start feeling it in the 45-50 range. You can still be active if you keep in shape, but recovery time is a bitch. When I raced motocross, a lot of the guys I rode with were still riding in their 50s/60s. But they'd break a lot easier when they'd crash, and you just don't bounce back like you used to. But that 45-50 range is when weird things start hitting you - like hair growing everywhere except where you want it to, having to get up and pee all night long, or not being able to pee, and all that "old people" stuff.

All relative, works in reverse also, just had an elderly woman say "thank you young man" when I held the door open for her to get through with her walker...

When I was about 24 I had to swing by my old high school during class hours to drop something off. Some of the students called me "sir."

Kind of wanted to hang myself.

I'm 46 and that hasn't hit me yet... I remember the motocross days. I stopped riding (YZ250F and YZ450F) because started getting hurt and all that good stuff.
