Scheduling your wedding on the same date as an LSU football game tells me that you don't care if I attend your wedding or not.

Too bad the game lasted longer then her husbands ability to not cheat on her and subsequently the marriage.
Please tell this story.

Your wedding is your wedding, schedule it whenever you want. You want your anniversary to be in the fall? Schedule it in the fall, your wedding is more important to you than a football game, absolutely.
On the flip side, understand that your wedding may not be a priority to everyone you invited, there will be a multitude of reasons people don't attend, and if you schedule it during a home game that will be a lot of people reasons. Coming from someone about to go through a year where I will attend 5 weddings, if it's not a close friend or relative it's almost more of a hassle than a great event.
I agree, and in my post (that got overwhelmingly downvoted ) I stressed that if you are close to the person getting married, that obviously makes it more important. If you're just another tally mark on the bride's aspirations to have 350 people at her wedding, then I would agree with what people are saying in this thread.

it's supposed to be about you and not your guests, so stop worrying about them
I gotta disagree with this some though. Yes, the day is about the couple getting married, but guests are invited to celebrate this momentous occasion with them. That's the whole point of inviting people to a wedding. So the bride and groom can be surrounded by their friends and family to make the day even more memorable.

Of course not everybody cares about my wedding. That's why I only invited people who actually do. Close family and friends only.

Yup, that plus we had to pay per person
Mom was not happy when I told her that her hair dresser's daughter wasn't invited.

I just decided what I'm going to do: get 10 or 15 fake save the dates printed up with the LSU/Bama day on them and send to my most ardent fan friends, sit back with a tallboy and watch the melt.

I like the idea of giving X amount of invites to both moms and once they're gone, they're gone.

This happens every year. People never learn.

lol I turned into a stalker for a few moments ... Presbyterian wedding because the Catholic church had too many rules. I swear .. it's on their "wedding page".

Yeah, the whole "it's your day; "it's all about you" thing has led to people being absolute brats about their weddings.

The problem with the entire fall wedding/football conflict is the bride assuming I want to go to her wedding in the first place. I'm looking for any reason not to go.

destination wedding with very close family/friends.
Reception few weeks later.
That is the perfect plan.
But, you gotta talk the woman into that.
