Friend of Jones and I got married at a mansion on St. Charles on the parade route so the parade actually rolled by DURING the reception. How cool is that?

Here's my thoughts on this
Your wedding is your wedding, schedule it whenever you want. You want your anniversary to be in the fall? Schedule it in the fall, your wedding is more important to you than a football game, absolutely.
On the flip side, understand that your wedding may not be a priority to everyone you invited, there will be a multitude of reasons people don't attend, and if you schedule it during a home game that will be a lot of people reasons. Coming from someone about to go through a year where I will attend 5 weddings, if it's not a close friend or relative it's almost more of a hassle than a great event.
But hey, it's your day, do whatever you want, it's supposed to be about you and not your guests, so stop worrying about them

my sister got married the same day as the TCU game last year, once my dad realized he said he wasn't paying unless their was a TV. She Caved.
Too bad the game lasted longer then her husbands ability to not cheat on her and subsequently the marriage.

Weddings by nature are somewhat selfish events. Outside of 20-30 people (and I think that's being generous), no one actually wants to be there. They are attending solely out of respect for either the bride/groom or their parents. If people would keep that in mind when planning their "big day" then they would have far less headaches and stress over the ordeal. Choose what you want for your wedding, but also try to accommodate, within reason, for your guests.

My youngest scheduled hers on the bye week - as in day after tomorrow.
