Aww, the geckos aren't a problem. They are an invasive species here, but haven't caused any problems. They don't bite and eat creepier things that do.

How are the geckos terrorizing you and your neighborhood?

I’ve never seen a really big one, but Mediterranean geckos can grow up to 6 inches

My gecko is six inches when temps are below 32F, but it can grow up to 9.75" when temps are 98.6F or above.

ETA my gecko is Eastern European

I'd love to have a gecko "problem". They eat a LOT of bugs and are cool little critters.

For those that find their way inside the home, capture is easily accomplished by placing glue boards (glue traps) in locations where the critters have been spotted.

What's the best way to catch them in the house? Someone earlier mentioned a bagless vacuum. I always have used a plastic cup and sheet of paper so I can put them back outside.

Does the vacuum kill them?

My geckos are the reason I don't have roaches.

There are also handful of areas within Louisiana that have Sri Lankan House Geckos, including the Audubon Zoo and Kenner.

And on the subject of Anoles, some areas of the state (especially New Orleans) also have the Brown Anole species (Anolis sagrei), which is an invasive from the Carribean. They are more terrestrial than the native, arboreal Green Anole (A. carolinensis), but can have negative effects on the native..

That was me, and no, it didn't kill it. I found it alive and well in the empty canister. It was on the ceiling, so I couldn't use a cup, and I didn't really want to. The last time I used a cup, the anole I was after darted, and I hurt its back. Had to put it down. Felt terrible. I love those little lizards.

They stay inside and don't bother anything. They eat bugs. When they do occasionally come in, my cat gets to chase them around. Everyone seems happy, except the dead Gecko after the cat gets it.

I USED to like them. Then they got way out of control. Gecko crap and geckos everywhere. I live out in the woods so endless supply of food for them and no natural predators. Anyway, I started shooting them with a cheap pellet rifle. I killed 100 the first night and have taken out over 500 this summer and they keep showing up however the ones left are tiny and harder to hit. It's amazing how many there were.
