I've noticed a ridiculous number of them too. Never seen as many as I've seen recently. Not that it bothers me or anything.

It probably is caused by the increased rainfall over the past couple years...not complaining about their presence, the more bug eaters that don't harm me the better.

The vast majority of lizards where I am at are indeed Anoles . They are the ones that can change from green to brown, The Carolina Anole. I do see some skinks but not too many.
The Mediterranean geko is what I assume the OP is referring to, I do see those occasionally but only at night usually around the eves where the light from doors or windows are attracting bugs.

Nothing wrong with them. Like others have pointed out they eat bugs. Bonus is they're quiet. Give me these over loud arse tree frogs any day.

House geckos have exploded at night where I am. Just go outside and turn on a light, and they're all over. Anoles are different lizards, active during the day, and much prettier. For your trouble, here's a photo of them having sexy time on my porch:

I actually have less of them. They use to be all over my breeze way in the back yard, but there isn't nearly as many. Between spraying for bugs and the parish consistently spraying for mosquitoes, it has diminished the amount of Geckos.
They are actually native to South America.. I think. They made their way here by being on barges, etc.

My only issue is they have a death wish with door hinges. There was a time when I never had less than a dozen bulging gecko heads sticking out of my front door jamb.

Meh. They decimate the mosquitos and if they dare wander inside, the cat decimates them.
No worries on my end.

I didn't have any where I lived so I went out at night and found them under the light in the town where I live. I caught several and released them in my yard. Now my entire neighborhood has them. They are eating machines. No spiders and less mosquitos around my porch area.

It's the gecko poop that's the problem. They leave a big mess all over my garage walls.

Yep. That's why I won't tolerate them in my house.

The more the better.
exactly... as long as they stay outside, i'll leave some spider webs up (in less noticeable places, of course) and i let the geckos be...

They are everywhere. I can't remember as a kid them being this prevalent.
Not native to the US. Introduced from Mediterranean and rapidly spreading throughout urban areas in SE US. Harmless.

what's the problem, they eat cockroaches
Posted on 9/24/17 at 1:14 pm to tigerbait3488
I think I really started to notice them here in Texas within the last 10 years or so. I can't quite remember them ever being around when I was a kid. They are everywhere outside of my parents House.

They eat spiders and roaches, so they're cool to chill around my residence. I let them do their job
