Destroying this girl because of how she danced at a Homecoming after party WITH HER MOTHER PRESENT. This guy is power drunk.
quote:
Kaylee Timonet was stripped of her title as the Walker High School student government president and her endorsement for a scholarship was retracted after a video surfaced on social media of her dancing at a homecoming after-party. The video in question shows Timonet, 17, dancing behind a friend “twerking” at a private party where Timonet’s mother was present on Sept 30, 2023.
quote:
“I didn’t see anything wrong with what my daughter was doing in the video,” says Timonet. “My child was not representing the school in any way, shape or form at the party.”
quote:
The DJ for the evening, DJ Savage, reached out to UWK. “I have been a DJ for over 10 years, and how those kids were dancing, was not bad. I have seen much worse. It was genuinely kids having fun,” he said.
quote:
According to Timonet, the principal told Kaylee that her actions went against the Bible, and questioned her faith.
quote:
“I couldn’t believe they could do something like that to a kid, a kid with a 4.2 average and Beta Club,” said the mother. “Being that the separation of church and state and that they don’t know what my faith and my beliefs are as a family and that is not for anybody to do other than my family. Also questioning her and demanding an answer if her friends follow the Lord and she’s answering, ‘I don’t know,’ she should not be questioned or spoken (to) about faith at all. It’s a public school, not a private school. He has no right to discuss any sort of religion with my child.”

Exposing the school/ school board to a very winnable lawsuit.

Sounds like a typical drive-by media hit piece. We only get the mom’s side of the story.

UWK reached out to Walker High’s Principal Jason St. Pierre and Livingston Parish School Superintendent Joe Murphy for responses to this report. As of this report, neither have responded.

If his actions weren't the result of her behavior at a school sanctioned event, LPS gonna be paying for her damaged punitive.

I, and many of my friends, would have been f'd if cell phones/social media was around in HS.

Maybe they should speak up and give their side

If video cameras were ubiquitous when I was in HS I would be flipping burgers right now, with or without an overly principled principal.
JFC can a kid have some legal fun without jeopardizing their future?

Well that’s likely not true, and I wonder if she maybe had to sign a conduct code at some point. There were a few kids in my HS that we’re kicked out for certain activities over the summer because they “represent the school 24/7.”
However, a girl dancing at a party isn’t a big deal and this principal seems like a gigantic douchenozzle.
ETA: Well after reading the responses to my post, I didn't realize this was a public school and there is no conduct code. So I firmly apologize for my transgressions and hope all my downvoters can forgive me.

I didn’t know Walker High was a private/Christian school??
I’m sure the cheerleading squad and dance team does more dancing than that girl does.
He’s def gone by next week.

The Walker High School student handbook is silent on punishment related to dancing at a party after school hours. Discipline of this nature is not discussed in the student handbook.
There are questions as to whether Timonet was afforded appropriate due process.

So far he isn’t giving his side of the story but you can watch the video and decide for yourself.
I want to hear more about his (St. Pierre’s) son being involved in a senior prank a year or two ago that caused vandalism to the school. I know someone here has the story.
