Did you watch the video? They are acting like violent cops on steroids. That was assault. They have no badges. No ID.

Do you trust everyone who assaults you in the parking lot if they say they are "security".
And then goes far beyond the scope of any duties they could possibly have with emotional violence. They wanted to hurt someone. They were getting off on it.
Then assaulting him again when he was down.

How you can defend those little police state wannabes is beyond me:

I like how black-shirt-not-a-cop had cuffs hanging on his belt, but when they face planted the guy, he pulled out his zip tie-cuffs.

Those two should probably stay home and not try that again. They could have easily secured that dude's arm before the box cutter came out, but were too busy trying to punch and choke him.

Awesome video though - is the per the one who goes "aahhhhh" when they face plant him?

If the shoplifter would have been black I bet this would make national news. I do think the security guards used a little more force than necessary. Whats the proper response to getting stabbed?

Not violently assaulting people who you have no right to in the first place. He did them no harm. They attacked him first.

It was slightly excessive force at first but they weren't doing anything to warrant having their lives taken. When that tpos pulled out a lethal weapon and stabbed him, all bets were off. They should be able to do whatever they need to subdue him after that IMO.

dod you not learn anything from Trayvon, the guy in New York, and Mike Brown? When black guys resist, we die.

I would have had a lot of fun with those 2 guys tho. I doubt the little guy was anywhere near strong enough to hold up against me and the big guy provably has no moves other than grab and slam. He definitely would have eaten these hands.

La Code Criminal Procedure Article 215 covers Detention and arrest of shoplifters. It states - A peace officer, merchant, or a specifically authorized employee or agent of a merchant, may use reasonable force to detain a person for questioning on the merchant's premises, for a length of time, not to exceed sixty minutes......

reasonable force

They were using reasonable force pre-box cutter. All that matters.

Say it with me now...

"They don't have the right to detain anyone. They are not law enforcement. Company policy is not to assault shoplifters. What they did is out of line and wrong and any lawyer will prove that."

They wanted to play cops. They'll be charged and wal-mart will be sued.

they're loss prevention, not exactly the same as security. most big department stores do this.

I guarantee you this won't end in Wal-mart or the wanna be cops' favor.

I'll stake a ban bet on it.
