Baws, I've procreated enough at this point in my life and the wife and I feel complete. Time for a vasectomy now.

For those who have had one, which kind of vasectomy did you have? I understand there are two types - one where they do a bit more cutting than the other, which is supposedly less invasive. My understanding is that the one marketed as "non-invasive" is still invasive though, since they still have to cut on the scrotum at least to some extent. I'm leaning toward the non-invasive one.

I thought I would go to youtube to see how it's done but all I could find was the kind that they do more cutting and "snipping". Watching that video was a mistake.

I'm terrified now. No way that doesn't hurt. I'm going to set an appointment with a doctor soon but until then, what can you tell me about vasectomies?

I've always assumed they would have to go inside my scrotum no matter the options.

I just had my girlfriend get drunk and squeeze and pull my boys until they were no longer operational

I did the non-invasive. I had some discomfort for about a week but I was out and about within 12 hours.

What about pain or discomfort during the procedure? What do they do to numb it? I'm going to need drugs to relax me.

You know that feeling in your lower stomach you get when you get kicked in the balls? Not the absolute pain, but that uneasy tightening you get that lets you know it's about to hurt?

That feeling is non stop the first 24 hours. You'll be sore another day or two, and those nuts are going to swell up about 50% as your scrotum turns purple.

3 days after the procedure, you're back to 75%.

They gave me lortabs, so I laid around for a couple days getting high on pain pills, drinking beer, and watching TV.

Can't be worse than testicular torsion surgery.

Jockstraps and ice for a few days afterwards.

I didn't realize there were two types. I don't know which one I had. It wasn't all that bad. A little discomfort when they shot my junk up with lidocaine or whatever they used, and some moderate pain/discomfort the next day or two.

They gave me lortabs, so I laid around for a couple days getting high on pain pills, drinking beer, and watching TV.

I may be having more children in the future.

This. I milked my “pain” hard. My wife was getting me beers while I sat on the couch. I wasn’t about to tell the truth that I was absolutely fine.

Shot to numb. You can feel a little pressure but no pain during procedure. Small incision. Ice that day and you should be good to go the next with some bruising and a little tenderness/discomfort.

Mine hurt. In fact, there ended up being a bit of infection. I mean, there was soreness afterwards then it started to ache. Had I not had surgery recently enough, it was the type of pain that otherwise would have sent me to the ER because I'd have sworn I had some kind of terminal testicular cancer.

Once it cleared up and stopped hurting, everything was fine. As bad as it hurt at the time, I never think about it anymore. Can't say that with other pains I've had.

Plus, the upside is pretty sweet...

It's no big deal. If you don't already shave your nuts. Make sure those plums are clean & hairless when you go in or you will have a stranger shaving your beanbag.

Fairly small cut on the junk didn't hurt. When they numb your pipes you feel a pretty sharp pain, almost like a small shock but it is over in a split second.

Wear the goofy looking jock strap, use ice. Act pitiful for several days. The guy here that did them would only do them on Thursdays and tell you to sit on your arse until Monday. I went back to work on a Monday in my regular drawers and started hurting, went home and put on a jock strap and wore it for a few more days, no big deal.

A needle in my balls is half of what terrifies me. I want something to numb my balls before getting the shot that numbs my balls

Im honestly not sure which I had. It wasnt bad. Ive had more discomfort getting a cavity filled. Sent the kids off for the weekend and I sat around, drank beer, and watched golf.

Did it on a Thursday, went back to work on Monday. If you walk a "normal" amount (We went to an engagement party the Sat. night) I could feel my boys swelling a little. One full week after I ran a mile just to test it, had a little swelling. Waited another few days and ran 3 with no issues.

It wasnt bad at all. Cheaper and easier than your wife having surgery. Go home and sit. Dont do any stupid stuff like bike riding or mower riding. Doc told me some guy went horse riding and was back in on Monday to have stuff fixed.

ETA: Nair your balls. buddy of mine didnt shave well enough and they dry shaved him right then. I brought a jock strap to wear but had more discomfort from it so I wore boxer briefs

You are over thinking this. Go to a urologist and see what he has experience in. Do that. Best decision I have made is having a vas.
