Yea but in this case I don't think there likley to think this way. It's foolish to remain loyal to someone betraying you. Crossing line is not showing disloyalty to coworkers or anybody in this case. I believe most reasonable folk here can agree with that. But there will be your radicals.

Maybe, maybe not. Really is hard to say. After a couple days is too early for me.
Like I said, if someone never intended to strike I would wonder why they took a job where that was a risk.

A brand new operator with no experience would take a job with whomever offered him/her in order to get experience. That translates into a union or non-union plant.

As I said earlier this is a right to work state some choose not to be union political beliefs whatever. It's their right and there's not alot of refinery chem jobs out there. Like they tell hiring classes out of however many thousand we picked you. That was literal. Many just want to work its not our place to try and shove our beliefs down their throat. If someone doesent beleive in this and decides to cross I have nothing but respect for him/her it takes some iron to do that.

Shouldn't be much of a lifestyle change to go back to being poor.

While I see your point, it's not like it's a high probability. It's most likely one would go their entire career and never be affected by a strike.
Should I not drive a car because there is risk of head on collision when I do?

True. I have just had some really shitty experiences with people using protection of the union and then being the first to betray them.
Lost all respect for them and it killed their career. No one wanted to have to depend on someone like that.

I hear you.
Are you affected by this strike? Just curious, without going back & reading the thread.

I am not.
I just take an interest in these things. I really dislike people who rail against people who go out and work every day. Then try to claim they are overpaid.
I don't care if it is a teacher, nurse, welder, doctor, pro athlete. Get whatever money is due to you by whatever means available. If it backfires you have no one to blame but yourself.

Haha, never was and turned it down everytime it was offered. You don't want me representing you. I tend to speak the truth about shitty workers, I could never represent a shithead.
I truly dislike what unions have become, but they have been handcuffed by the companies that hold them responsible.

Thoughts on paying Union members who don't actively picket? Is this handled with the same "disloyalty" repercussions as crossing the line?

U wouldn't never have to rep me I carry my own and some. I wouldn't want that job either

Can we use Detroit as an example of how unions can frick everyone?

frick em. You need a job and the union doesn't have the connections anymore to pull that off. If you are just sitting at home doing nothing getting drunk, yeah it looks bad to me.
I do get the 'abandoning your post' view and the line needs to be manned if you ever have plans to return to that job. However, it isn't the same market as two decades ago. Most hires are coming in with a degree and options outside of being an operator. Few were hired due to connections so getting another job might not be a cakewalk, but it isn't as scary.

Claiming unions fricked Detroit is like saying it is the woman's fault for getting pregnant. There are two parties involved in negotiations.

The most amazing thing to me is that people still believe that socialism is still a good option; even with decades of failure to prove otherwise.

Also, inability to acknowledge your primary market is fundamentally changing.
The blame can be put on management and unions for the auto industry.
Detroit itself is another story, that is poor city management and white flight.

Unions support Dems 99% of the time. The worker might not but the party does, they go hand in hand. Can't separate one from the other. No need to knock her up a second time...
