but I laugh at the people who get hysterical over this kind of thing. Everyone seems to want democracy and the free market to rule, yet they bitch incessantly when a private company caters to the masses. This is the free market at work. Delta weighed their options and eliminated a service that was no longer viable. People who are much smarter than you or I looked at the pros and cons and decided to go this route. I can assure you that they are all about the bottom line, and this decision is best in their assessment. Move along.

I for one am hardly "hysterical" or whatever other adjectives the other posters wanted to mention on the first page. Did you read the first line of my post? I never berated or debated Delta's right to make this decision. I just pointed out that I am disappointed and will look to fly other airlines. They made their decision and now I will make mine.

frick. Some people on here act as if bringing up a debatable topic on a discussion board is a criminal act. I guess the OT should just stick to "frick the police" and WYHI threads when not posting "I am so drunk... haha" threads. Probably room for an occasional hard legging on Paige too but that may be it I guess.

If I did a Change.Org deal to require all women to give at least 3 random men a BJ per week for 'Social Justice' and got 300,000 men to agree, would it happen?

Alright, we did it guys! Good work everyone! But as you know, our work is never done. Now to take on the fascists at Burger King for not providing vegan options for bovine identifying, gender-neutral citizens of the world.

Fair enough, I just picked the OP to reply to in the thread - the sentiment was not neccessarily directed at you.

Maybe I've just had poor experiences with them, but the past few flights I've had have been either delayed, oversold, cancelled, or lost luggage.

Everyone has their individual anecdotal experiences. In the areas you have identified, here were the DOT rankings among the 3 major US domestic carriers:

On-time arrivals:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

Canceled flights:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

Extreme delays:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

2-hour tarmac delays:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

Mishandled baggage:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

Involuntary bumping:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

Complaints:

1. Delta
2. American
3. United

See a trend?

When they make these statistics, are they basing it off of the same number of people per cancellation/etc. between the airlines, or is it all of the customers of each airline collectively? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Welcome to the new world of drama loving reactionaries and decisions made based on purely symbolic reasoning.

While thousands cheer Delta's decision, and thousands rage against it, life goes on and nothing really changes. Trophies still get shipped, animals killed and no one notices.

I believe it is a normalized in a way to make a fair comparison on a per capita basis.

I'm a DL Medallion and I went through a stretch 2 years ago of 11 straight trips with a "major issue or delay".

I'm going on over a year now (knock on wood) without the slightest of problems outside of a sub-30 minute delay.

I'm only asking because Delta could have say 10k more customers than American, and American could have 10k more customers more than United. That could kind of skew the statistics a little, but I haven't really looked into how they count them.

Delta is, by far, the best of the legacy carriers. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't fly very often.

And kudos to Delta on the new policy.

This shows you just how good things are in the US when the killing of ONE fricking Lion is the biggest issue of the day.

I think "big game" hunting is chicken shite. Pay a ton of money to drive around in a virtual game preserve to shoot a Lion, Elephant, etc. just to show your buddies how big of a dick you have. But come on! The African's don't give a shite other than they see it as an opportunity to extort money from an American. If it was such a big fricking deal, they would have outlawed these big game hunts LONG ago. That's not easy to do though when the foreign money coming in is so good.

If you have enough free time to devote stopping Lion hunting on another continent, then cogratu-fricking-lations, everything else in your life is pretty good.

Welcome the the USA, where life is so good we have to invent problems to solve. We're the stay at home wife of planet earth. Creating problems that don't exist and/or making insignificant issues the "biggest thing facing society today!!"

Damn upvote for you Sir. Making sense of things.

I just laugh (but not at what I am about to say) that they will gang up on the African nations and hunting will get outlawed. Americans will quit coming, animal lovers will rejoice and the world will look elsewhere. Meanwhile... the lack of hunters money will result in thousands of HUMAN CHILDREN starving to death in the most horrid conditions possible. But those lions will then have something to eat.
