You already know things don't come easy but as long as you stay positive and grind things will always fall into place.

I didn't realize you were one of the victims. I guess when I first read the thread I assumed you were the victim's dad due to your username. Damn dude, that's hell to go through. I've had a gun to my head before and it's an out of body experience. At least for me, it was like my brain couldn't process information fast enough. It was almost numb. I was fortunate. Good luck with everything going forward. It's good to see these POS being put away.

Nah, "Corkfather" is just a nickname; I've explained it's origin at some point in this thread.

When he had the gun to my head; I was just like frick it, this is the end and it is what it is. When he pulled the trigger I was almost frustrated that it didn't go off, because I knew it was just postponing the inevitable. I made it out of there, by the grace of God is all I can guess.

Cork, you got through it once and you'll get through it again. I know this must be frustrating to you, but as Joe Louis said about boxing light heavy weight champion, Billy Conn -- "He can run but he can't hide."

These guys will use every legal maneuver in the books, but the trial date will eventually get here. When the time comes, take the bastard down with the same grace you did in the first trial. Best to you, Cork.

I expected a postponement, so I wasn't surprised when I got the call. I'm not overly concerned about it anymore, I'm just letting things take its course; I know it'll work out.

Thanks for the continued support.

God had a reason for that gun jamming.

Damn, I've just spent the past hour reading this whole thread. We don't know each other Corkfather but between the events you experienced that night, battling drugs, dealing with the economy and now your physical problems you could easily be a bitter man. Thinking about this all at once IS overwhelming. That is why I hope you can cntinue to "compartmentalize it" as you said. Pull out bits and pieces of this story, a little at a time, hammer away at it for a little while and then put it away.

This has been my experience: I stay bitter if I focus on the negative of my past too much and I waste a lot of time on the future, "waiting for the day when (fill in the blank". For me, taking it one day at a time is too long. I do well to just stay in the moment.

I hope you can find financial security, I hope you can know you are supported and I hope you can find ways to help others. You have quite a story that could help others.

That's about the best news that could come out of this senseless, needless act.

Glad to hear at least one will be off the street.

Good attitude to have. That's a tough section of that building to force anyone to trial. Let it play out and the result will eventually be the same.

I'm sure it's been asked in here, hell I probably asked when the thread was first posted, but did they ever catch the other 4 and if so why aren't they also on trial for murder?

Great news on the conviction. Great job testifying. That takes courage. As did refusing to opent that door.

As for the continuance, my friend was murdered in 2010. Killer stop hasn't gone to trial, though he's sitting in jail.

I was 10 years before you at HC.
