Executive orders (especially in SOE) obviously supersede any perceived movement rights you think you have.
Is East BR still in a SOE?

How long does it last?

What is required for it to end?

Uncle Earl's should focus energy on helping those that lost everything instead of a frivolous lawsuit

Authenticity is definitely in question.

It's not the curfew's fault. Considering the trash that goes to Earl's, they most likely lost their customer base to trailers floating off.

They will pre-spend any potential winnings (plus some) in attorney's fees before this is over.

I've only been there once.

It was the site of me losing the second non-LSU grad friend I brought up from New Orleans for an LSU game.

I'm 2/2 on that. Pretty sure none were my fault but I had been drinking.

A lot of your rights are taken away in an emergency situation - legally I might add.

I get it Johnny. The point many of us are trying to make, and the basis of this lawsuit is that we are no longer in an 'emergency situation'. There is not any more crime occurring right now than there normally is in EBR. In fact, I would be willing to bet crime is DOWN right now. The roads in EBR are clear of floods. Businesses and individuals are relying on getting back to work in order to earn a paycheck so they can pay bills and put food on the table in what is already already a difficult time. Many of these people were flooded and need this money to get back on their feet. This political muscle flexing isn't helping anyone. It's impeding our ability to get things back to normal. I realize some people don't like others that frequent bars and drink but that is beside the point. We as citizens are not in any more danger now than we are on any given other day in EBR and we do not need the government confining us to our homes regardless of the time period. Sid and the gang are enforcing a curfew simply because they know others don't want it in effect and they know they have the power to do it anyway. The reasoning behind the curfew is baseless. It's wrong, it's unconstitutional, and I hope he pays the price by being voted out of office.

So I take it I can anticipate a notarized admission of wrongheadedness from you when everything I said yesterday is vindicated by the courts?

Losing as in "hey, anyone seen Ronnie?" or "damn, can't believe Ronnie isn't my friend anymore. I thought he was serious when he said I could finger bang his girlfriend in the women's room at Uncle Earls."

The state of emergency signed by democratic JBE and Obama says otherwise.

I'm not sure what is required for the state of emergency to end, but being that we are still in a SOE, Sid has the power to place a curfew.

This will go before a court, where the judge will put out the information I've just said, and the case will be tossed out...at huge expense to UE.

This is a battle they will not win.

Florida 2009 a friend walked off hammered from around Indian mounds looking for a bathroom located 50 feet away. After awhile, I knew he was lost, but our phones died. I waited at the tailgate for hours but then went to the game, came out, waited some more, charged my phone, his was still dead. Went downtown to my buddy's place we were staying. At 1AM, we decided to hit up Pluckers. No lie, turning left off Government towards campus he walks in front of my car. Pick him up and feed him after being gone some 10 hours or so. Apparently hung out with some NW St. grads all day, stayed hammered, and had a cab just drop him off downtown.

Other friend was with me in Uncle Earl's parking lot as we were calling it a night. I turn around and he's missing. Apparently, he brownouts for an hour or so, wakes up at Duvic's or something, pays a cab a fortune for a ride home to NO. I think he quit drinking shortly after that.

They might not win it in court, but I hope it shines more light on what's really happening and we all win by voting out officials that use safety as a guise to abuse power.

Man, it really makes you wonder how, before cell phones came around, people got hammered at parties/tailgates/games/festivals/you name it, and still managed to rendezvous with the crew!

This isn't just a local problem or some recent phenomenon...see above post.

Non-elected Washington politicians have been doing this for years. See the Patriot Act among other things.

Things we don't even know that the government has done.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist nut job, but there are liberties being eroded right now that you don't even know about.

Arguing with him is pointless. He's the poster that thinks it's a solution for everyone remain in the bar until 6AM when the curfew is lifted but have the bar stop serving at 2AM. I believe he said something along the lines of "everyone can just hang out and play on their phones."

Sure does. I guess the cell phone allows people to be more independent and make on the fly decisions. Before them, you couldn't do that as much or you were screwed. Risks were high you would miss out too. Now, you can leave, check another party out, then come back if it sucks.
