If you're in Colorado and grab a can of Budweiser, it's possible that you might be sipping beer delivered by Uber's autonomous truck company. Today, Otto confirmed that on October 20th, it "completed the world's first shipment by a self-driving truck," a delivery that involved transporting 2,000 cases (or 51,744 cans) of Bud from Fort Collins, Colorado to Colorado Springs along Interstate 25. Although impressive, this "world first" is mostly promotional. The Verge reports that a human driver first navigated the truck from a Anheuser-Busch depot to a weigh station in Fort Collins. From there, Otto's self-driving technology was deployed and the Volvo big rig drove the remaining 100 miles to Colorado Springs without any outside assistance. Once it entered the city, the driver -- who monitored the journey from the sleeper berth in the back -- resumed control and completed the final manoeuvres.

How tight was his butthole the whole ride?

That would be a travesty.

What type of pony will the train robbers use on these vehicles when they start? How hard would it be to drop spike sticks and wreck these vehicles then loot?

not much harder than it is now. Just with the assault (on the driver) charge dropped.

My understanding is that the trucking companies will still have people aboard the trucks to protect their cargo.
However, the drivers can sleep and the trucks can drive 24/7.

seems like these trucks would be easy to rob

1. Have the cargo locked to where only the end customer can open it; this makes them work for it while cops come
2. if the truck is stopped, the nearest authorities are alerted. they will probably have this for breakdowns
I really don't see the difference in what is happening today. Truck drivers aren't trying to risk their lives for a bunch of walmart products.

I'd much rather a computer drive a truck than the drunk Ole Miss fan I sat next to on Saturday.

If this truck is driving 72 miles per hour and it approaches another truck driving at 70 miles per hour. What does it do?
