It makes other drivers think that the car is stopped because of a hazardous condition. It's even illegal to use them in some states if the car is otherwise moving.

Things like this remind me of how backwards Louisiana and some of the South can be.

but it's not illegal in Louisiana. If you can't tell the difference between a moving car and a non moving car to the point you start taking "evasive maneuvers" like a dumbass then you need to have your license taken away.

Why is it a hazard?

Louisiana state trooper Brian Lee on wwl just said it is not illegal to have them on in heavy rain while driving. He also said if you feel the need to have them on, do so, but find a safe place to pull over.

Just stirring the pot

That's not entirely what he said.

He said if you are moving at a much slower speed than the flow of traffic, regardless of weather, you should turn them on. He also said if it's due to rain, you should probably exit the interstate.

If it was raining so hard that you couldn't see the shoulder or the hood of your own car, what good were your flashers then?

What harm did they do?

Isn't that kind of the idea for having them on in the first place? So you don't hit them?

Putting your flashers on leaves only your small third light for warning the car behind you that you're stopping.

What in the hell are you talking about? Brake lights are red. Hazards/blinkers are yellow. Completely different color and completely different lights on the car.

Isn't that the point of brake lights too?

Last I checked brake lights only come on when braking. Most people don't ride their brakes down the interstate.

Because some cars don't have separate blinkers and brake bulbs in the tail lights. Putting your flashers on leaves only your small third light for warning the car behind you that you're stopping. And if it's raining that hard, you think the person behind you will see it?

BRAKING - in this case both light will be on, however they won't blink. they will be on for an extended period of time encompassing several seconds. It is possible though extremely unlikely that the driver in front of you will be engaging his brake pedal in a rhythmic fashion to exactly mimic the appearance of hazard lights.

lol at the people who recommend pulling over to the side of interstate while trucks are doing 70mph, with zero visibility, and no idea of where the lanes are.

No shite. However, running lights should be on though.

I don't have a big problem with it anymore. Except for those going 30 mph in the left lane. Just because they are pussies doesn't mean I should have to sit there and stare at their hazards blinking. Move bitch get out the way
