meh, a 72 month note could be a win situation if you can get a 2% or below interest rate. Smaller note allows you to pay more off the principle.
I've never done a 72 month note but I've done a 60 month note and paid it off within 2 years. Same idea with 72 months.

Like I said, most people want a luxury car these days, not a real truck.

Huh? I've seen plenty of people use high end trucks to do work. What constitutes a real truck, not having tech from the current century? Not being comfortable?

I endorse this message.
Oh, and I did throw some 3/4" plywood and 1 by's in the back of my "truck" last weekend so I have the best of both worlds. F the haters.

My paid off 2006 vehicle has 135k miles and thus far zero problems. I am keeping it till it dies . I haven't had a car note since 2010. Look forward to hitting 200k miles. I have always felt a vehicle is just a mode of transportation. As long as it gets me where I need to go, I am good

If you're trading in a 5 year old identical truck those are still worth 30k or so. That 55k is a good number to use for new Lariat F-250 so you are basically financing 25k if you pay tax, title, etc out of pocket. $450 note

It's pretty crazy. I'm hoping prices for 2013-14 F150s decrease sharply in the next couple of years as more new body style F150s hit the used vehicle market.
I'd like to buy one with all the bells and whistles, but I can't imagine spending more than $25-26k.

Isn't even a truck anymore. They used to be body-on-frame and you could tow with them or go off-road (or get in a light accident and just replace sheet metal). Now they're just somewhat high-sitting station wagons.
Ford still makes a real Explorer for the rest of the world called the Ford Everest. It's too bad we can't buy them here.

I have not had a truck note since 1998.
I drive a 1994 Silverado, still has a cassette player in it. 194k miles on it.
I will buy me a good used car before long (a 2014/2015) and use it for trips and driving to work. And keep the truck for truck stuff...probably just put an engine in it when the current engine is shot.
Just bought my son a 2104 Maxima. I had the interior redone, put dark leather seats in it so it would not stain. He wanted a Toyota 4WD. I told him I preferred him to use my truck for hunting and get him a car that could last him through high school, college and even into his 1st job for the same money that would only get him in a high mileage truck.
Personally, I just prefer to put my money into something other than a constant vehicle note. But to each his own.
FYI, I also printed up my son his own payment book. He pays me 1/2 of the payment each month and has to fill out the payment slip, etc. I also included an area that he has to indicate mileage at the end of the month, that the car is clean and serviced. I hope to help him dislike having a payment as well.

The Expedition seems closer to what the Explorer used to be than the current Explorer
Posted on 2/1/16 at 12:20 pm to Bama323_15
Thats me. My dad as a jeep and a full size pickup I use. I only hunt and fish with him anyway. No reason to pay 40-45 k on a 4x4 when you can get a new compact car or SUV to drive to work for 20-25 k.

The Expedition is Ford's only US Market body-on-frame SUV. But it's very large and ungainly, so it doesn't appeal to folks who don't want to wrestle that large of a vehicle or people who want a true off-roader.
The Everest is about the same size as the US market Explorer (which is a re-badged Volvo station wagon in actual fact) except that it is body on frame, has a solid rear axle, a locking center differential, and a locking rear end - so it's a legitimate off-road vehicle. It's a competitor to the Land Cruiser Prado (US Market: 4Runner and LX460), the Land Rover, and the Grand Cherokee (and in the 3rd world - the second-generation Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero), which was still manufactured until like 2012 in places like Columbia!).

believe it or not, you can still buy a regular cab, 250 hp, vinyl bench seat truck, if you really want it

I don't think you know what yuppie means. I don't know many young urban professionals driving trucks.
I think you should get out of Arky more. Lots of windshield cowboys driving 3/4 ton trucks in the BR Metro area. Way more driving them then probably need them IMO. Part of the reason prices are sky high.

Love these on my f-150.
I really wanted a King Ranch for awhile, but the way they've tattooed that logo ALL over in the inside is so ugly to me.
Settled for the Lariat with the max tow. Telescopic mirrors are the GOAT.
