So I was kicking tires yesterday afternoon at the local Ford dealer. I knew truck prices were sky high now, but why on earth would someone buy an F-150 when they could have a 250 for the same price?

150

250

Also, call me old fashioned, but I think trucks have become too luxurious. I like leather and navigation and all the gadgets and such, but I feel like you can't buy a higher end truck now without worrying about messing up the interior with any dirt or mud.

Because the 150 gets almost 10 mpg more and is much more comfortable for starters.

They still make all weather mats. It's really not a big deal.

ETA: Also, no one is paying anywhere near MSRP on a 1/2 ton pickup.

yeah, i get the new features with the 150. maybe it's just personal preference but i prefer the more utilitarian interior like in the 250, and if i'm going to spend the money i might as well get a more capable truck

I often wonder how much cheap money has inflated these prices along with 72 month finance options, just doesn't seem sustainable

no idea why banner doesn't order them all FX4 in 250's. I'd check with robinson bros on comparison, i bought mine there and banner's done all my servicing.

Truck prices are stupid. And trucks used to be for work. Now I'm guessing 50% of the people buying them, use them like an SUV.

Weather Tech mats through out will save your interior. My boots stay muddy and they do the trick. I wish they made gas/brake pedal covers. It's a bitch cleaning dirt out of the grooves

I find it interesting that people judge younger people driving Mercedes, Audi, etc. but no judgement on same aged folks driving F150, Tahoe, or a decked out Grand Cherokee that cost equal or much more than their luxury counterpart.

58K gets you an absurdly nice car.

definitely a must. i'm thinking more about the seats and other surfaces of the truck. they cover all the doors and shite in that soft leather. i don't want to have to take a shower before getting into my truck

This doesn't apply to JUST the F150/F250 though.

It's the same for Chevy/GMC & RAM.

For the same price as a 150/1500 with the biggest gas engine and 4x4 you can get a 250/2500 with the biggest gas engine and 4x4.

It doesn't apply if you are talking diesel, but I don't want a modern diesel with all that smog garbage to maintain and fill and worry about hurting the longevity.

I've been thinking the same thing as the OP. Why, since I don' care about all the leather and wood and frills, would I get a 150/1500, when I could get a bigger truck that will tow more for the same price?

i've got a yukon now, but use my dad's chevy 2500 quite regularly. with prices the way they are i just don't see getting a 1/2 ton even though it would suit my needs 90% of the time

Trucks are now luxury vehicles for yuppies that want all the bells and whistles and a polished look.
