Just looked up Girl and the Goat. Fantastic menu. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do yourself a favor and just pass through Chicago on your way to Milwaukee.

You will need reservations for Girl and the Goat and they are usually booked 3 months out. If you can find anything it'll be on a Monday or Tuesday night.

Definitely go to the top of Willis tower or John Hancock.

On a serious note, we just went in April and had a blast. We had our fill of deep dish pizza. Giordano's was by far our favorite. We went to a Cubs game. I was disappointed that they were doing construction on the outfield bleachers while we were there and I didn't get the full experience. That gives me an excuse to go back

We attempted to do the Field Museum, Art Institute of Chicago & Aquarium on the same day. Big mistake. We could have spent a day alone at the Field Museum. It was really awesome and much bigger than I anticipated. I wasn't really blown away by the aquarium. The Belugas were cool, but I'd probably skip it next time and devote more time to the Field Museum. The Art Institute was kinda meh, but mostly due to the fact that we were rushed while we were there. Two hours really isn't enough time to view 300,000 pieces of art

We really enjoyed the Willis Tower over the Hancock Tower. Not sure why. May have something to do with the fact that we went to Hancock during the day and Willis at night.

I suggest that you get a Chicago City Pass if you intend to do the Field Museum, Art Institute, Aquarium, Museum of Science & Industry, etc...You save a good bit by buying the pass as opposed to individually and you get to skip the often long lines. I was disappointed that we didn't get to visit the Museum of Science & Industry due to time constraints, but that just gives me another reason to go back. I also suggest a carriage ride around downtown. It was very informative and relaxing.

The "L" was intimidating at first, but we actually got comfortable using it towards the end of our trip. We had a really good time and I can't wait to go back

I got a late night sunday reservation for like 10 just a few days in advance. Just keep a watch on it for people dropping out.

You also have to choose the right one. But yeah, drinking a beer and seeing the sights from a boat and hearing about it, its really awesome.

If you want to have a beach day, head down to North Ave Beach. Great beach, swimming, "sightseeing", close to downtown.

Architectural Tour is a must as well. It's fantastic and about $27 a person. I've been a resident here for 14 years, but done the tour 3 times.

It's a little more crowded on the weekend.

Where are y'all staying and how long? If you intend to use the public transportation I suggest getting a 3 day pass for $25.

I'm not exactly sure where we are staying yet. Apparently not the south side?

We are riding the train up from New Orleans on a Friday, so we'll be in Chicago half a day Saturday, all day Sunday, and most of the day Monday, then flying back.

Ugh, no thanks.

I don't care for people.

I'm interested in doing the field museum and the art museum. The boat tour sounds good. Prom wants to go to a game, I'd prefer Da Bears. I think we're going to eat lunch at Sixteen on Sunday. Maybe try for a table at Girl and the Goat Saturday night.

Bears fans are largely assholes, the tickets are expensive because the stadium is so small, and the stadium itself basically sucks. Tailgating is decent but not great (south lot and the roof of the parking garage immediately south of the stadium before the parking lot).

Cubs game in the summer is the way to go if you're a tourist. And eff the Bears.

I second Girl & Goat. I went to Ada Street for the first time last week and it was great. The braised rabbit and gnocchi is incredible

Try and go see Second City performance. Wife and I just saw it. Three hours long, but it's a NSFW version of SNL.
Also, Try Siena Tavern

Went last year - we stayed in a jr. suite at TheWit and it is probably my favorite room through all of our travels. Walking distance to Giordano's, right in the heart of the theater district, and just a 5 minute cab ride to just about every major attraction. We drove, but taking a cab everywhere was much more convenient and cheaper than I expected.

Get the City Pass - it lets you visit around 5 major attractions for around half the cost of doing them separately.

Field Museum is a must - I liked it more than the Smithsonian (though the dinosaurs were closed when we went to the Smithsonian). Major dino collection, including Sue the t-rex, at Field.
The observation deck on the 103rd floor of the old Sears tower was much more fun than I expected.
Shedd Aquarium is nice.
Millenium Park is nice.
Museum of Science and Industry is unlike any museum you've ever seen - awesome.

Skip the Sears Tower and go to the Signature Lounge at the Hancock Building. If you're going to pay to go to the top of a building, you might as well get a drink out of it. Go at dusk.

I second the Architecture Tour and the Science and Industry Museum. However, if you are only there for a couple days, don't do the museum. You will lose a whole day there, but it's a fun and knowledgeable day.
