One thing I am looking forward to most as a dad is my kids playing sports. Seeing stuff like this is sad but that's today's world and you have to decide if that's what you want to put your kids and family through (nothing wrong with either).
I think its foolish to think your kid will become a pro even if they dedicate themselves to one sport. You only are born with so much talent and coordination and becoming a pro requires that and much more.
I think the best plan for a kid is expose them to as many sports as possible and the older they get you drop the ones that they 1) don't enjoy and 2) just simply aren't good at (which they most likely won't enjoy). By high school, you end up with a handful of sports and activities and you let them choose their path. At the end of the day sports for those not going "pro" is learning about being on a team, competition, enjoying the actual sport they are playing, etc. Being a well-rounded athlete also will help them out in any sport they pursue and all the "ODP" and "Elite" training will only help so much.
One thing to keep in mind to is that earning a scholarship to play a sport in college these days is not that hard. If your son or daughter enjoy something, regardless of their talent (unless it's just awful) they can most likely have their college paid for if they enjoy the sport and want to pursue it another four years. They may need some exposure but IDP and Elite training every weekend of the year isn't necessary for that. This applies to anything that a college will pay you to go there for really.

Our travel soccer is pretty much over. Met a lot of good people. Now games are just at Burbank and Independence and the LSU Rec fields.

So if one kid does travel ball, the entire family is basically held captive?
Exactly... my kid did travel baseball...and you couldn’t plan anything else as all your weekends were on the road for 4 months...

Better get a brand new Tahoe with the 3rd row seat.
May as well make it 4x4 since you may have to park on grass.
Little Bralen will surely appreciate it.

Good advice, my little Jaxyn and Axtyn love it

Absolutely, I’m going to miss it. It feels great to see your kid out there running around without a care in the world. It’s great to see them give all they have, and then some.

Congrats on wknds spent in shitty hotels and wearing out your vehicle in half the time it would normally take. All so you can live vicariously thru your kid.

team practice 2-3 times a week
If that's all of the practice he's getting, this whole charade is a huge waste of time and money. What/who is pressuring you into being involved in this? You obviously think it's ridiculous, so why is it happening?

He can’t fricking wait. That football field is like Mecca to him. He’s going to frick some shite up out there. He’s kicked field goals from damn near every spot on that field he’s capable of. When soccer goals are out there we bring both bags of balls.

All the NO and BR delinquents, who got kicked out of their schools and sent there, are going to frick with Gaston’s poor kid unmercifully.

All you have to do is say no, and take your kid out of this. I have no clue how you can think this is good for your family.

No matter how the travel ball nerds defend it, the entire family sacrifices just about everything for the travel ball kid

My kids will play in local rec leagues if they want to but they will not play travel ball. I enjoy my weekends off too much for that crap.

shite no, my boy knows all of spots in town to hide and stay out of trouble. Kids here hunker down in the rail cars and under the RR bridge. He walks to school and home, and they literally have a gang. High school’s going to be trouble.

In MS it’s not that great.
Got it. The ODP teams out of Texas are legit, but most of the kids were kicking a ball before they could walk.

Jesus, I don’t have kids so I can’t really speak on it but that sounds insane

Oh yea, southern states with large cities have amazing programs. My boy’s team is ranked #1 in state, and they’d get mud checked in Houston. They can hang with LA teams, for now, but the big city tournaments are no bueno.

I was one of those delinquents for a year.
The boarders don’t associate with the day students and vice versa
