A certain demographic finds no issue rolling down the window of their nissan/dodge and just throwing trash on the street while at a red light.

I only do this when flicking boogers out of my window. Hope that this behavior is ok and not considered littering.

I was amazed at how clean the city was.

I visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi once. The cities were spotless. Because if you get caught littering, they cut your fricking arms off.

Trash in Louisiana
I figured for sure this was referring to citizens, but you’re talking about actual litter

My favorite are when people drop fast food bags and drinks they just ate.

Louisiana is really bad for that.

I watched a woman empty out her whole car in the parking lot at the CVS on Government while I was sitting at the light.

Problem is that the garbage trucks run down the interstate and they allow the trash to blow out their trucks . I have seen it firsthand. Republic needs to repair their crappy trucks.

Join the group KTTB - Keep Tiger Town Beautiful - they are on FB...I have volunteered several times and the Men's Club I am a member of recently donated money - to buy supplies.

Follow the FB page, they have several small pickups everyday and one large one on Saturday.

To date nearly 5300 bags of trash and 1000's of drug needles have been removed.

I saw a crew on the interstate picking up trash one Thursday, by the weekend it looked like nothing had been done.

I live in Zachary and work south of BTR. Most folks probably do not realize that the main route to the parish landfill is I-110 to US61. That corridor collects more debris from fugitive losses of garbage trucks and dumpsters than any place I have ever seen. Then you have the people who for some reason make it almost to the landfill and decide to dump their cargo on the side of the road.
The big problem here is that the BTR Airport is smack dab in the middle of this route so every visitor we have that flies in to Ryan Airport sees this trash infested pathway. Our city govt or Mayor-President however fails to notice this...

This is a major reason people have the opinion that BTR is a trashy place.

Is it just a Louisiana thing?

No but it’s much more socially acceptable in Louisiana than it is in other states. In other words there are way more bad apples in Louisiana than in other states. Couple that with the fact that nobody cares enough to enforce the law and here we are.

Louisiana sucks. Bad.

They should make penalties so stiff that people think twice. If you get caught you have to do 100 hours of community service picking up trash and a stiff fine.
