So I live in the Capitol City Region. Saw a group of volunteers out the other weekend cleaning up a section along Perkins. 2 days late it looks like crap again.

I saw a crew on the interstate picking up trash one Thursday, by the weekend it looked like nothing had been done.

Driving down Florida this morning, Dumpster in a parking lot wide open and the wind is blowing trash into the roadway.

The people picking it up cannot compete with this kind of behavior.

littering is 100% the worst behavior a human being can show. If you cannot wait 5 minutes to find a trash can to throw the junk in your car away, you should be publicly humiliated

I've seen "people" throw entire fast food bags, several actually, out there window on Siegan lane in the broad daylight.

I remember seeing this in BR and I see it now in Houston. A certain demographic finds no issue rolling down the window of their nissan/dodge and just throwing trash on the street while at a red light.

That’s Keep Tiger Town Beautiful. They have a Facebook page if you want to volunteer or donate some trash bags.
Problem is that the garbage trucks run down the interstate and they allow the trash to blow out their trucks . I have seen it firsthand. Republic needs to repair their crappy trucks.

Keep Tiger Town Beautiful and Clean Pelican both do great work in picking up trash around the city.

But it is more than just picking up trash. There has to be a push on education about littering and taking pride in where you live. Until that happens it is going to be a never ending battle between people picking up litter and litterers. It’s a good start though.

It's the mentality of the day: someone else will take care of it.

Some people love to litter. It's usually trashy looking people but not always. I think it makes them feel better about themselves somehow?

I live off Hwy 1 in Thibodaux and I have to pick up a Walmart bag full of trash every couple of days from my front yard. It's pretty sad.

Why don’t you get out there and do your part instead of complaining about it on a message board.

I just got back from Highlands, NC where all the mountain roads advertise $1000 fines for littering. Result: Pristine roadsides.

The same thing goes for the North Georgia highways on the way there. The grass was freshly cut and there was not a piece trash to be seen. I thought to my self, if this was LA, the mowers cutting that median would make it look like a snow globe with all the paper kicked up.

You know, it’s like replacing your carpet in your house because your dog keeps dragging it’s behind all over the carpet, but you refuse to curb the behavior of the dog dragging it’s behind, and so the new carpet looks like “shite” in no time.

I’m all for picking it up. I get the utter disgust and frustration with trashy people, but until we can catch them and bust their arse for doing so, we are fighting a loosing battle. The trash in Louisiana is why we have trash everywhere. It’s that simple.

It's illegal to litter in La too but never enforced. I'd be perfectly fine with "litter police" Karen's out giving tickets daily

La is letting criminals/murderers walk so littering is ignored.

Louisiana is the only state I’ve been to where the preferred method of mattress disposal is dumping it on the side of the interstate.
