So my mother and sister were running errands and in the rain with 2 kids did the "pull in to a handicap spot while passenger runs into the store" and got a ticket

Now she is looking at a $650 ticket. There's no arguing they were wrong but is their anyway to get it reduced. 650 is a bit excessive for a damn parking ticket

Some poor legless war vet had to crawl through the rain swept parking lot to enter that store due to the women in your family. The least you can do for the man is give $650 to the government.

I have been waiting to hear this story for a while. I see it people abuse this every day and it feels good to know that someone finally got what they deserve.

I predict 10/1 hate responses. Get ready!!!

Depending on who the judge is usually is a factor in many of these or similar cases.

I understand your position and have no malice or joy at the situation- simply a level of satisfaction.

I went to traffic court recently with a ticket in hand that read

No DL on Person
No proof of Registration
Careless operation
And something else

Didn't even ask for it to be looked at, they just called me up and said "You had insurance right?" I said "yes", they said "everything is dropped but the No DL on person, here is your print up to go to pay"

So yeah they work with you

Pay the fine and never do it again!

Do you have any idea how much is sucks when you are trying to move your 88 year old partially blind mother through a parking lot because some prick is sitting in the HC space because they didn't want to get rained on. It is infuriating!

Those who use these spots and don't need them are the lowest pieces of shite on this earth.

I agree CE. $650 seems ridiculous.

Pretty sure anyone that pays $150 for a parking ticket would learn their lesson.

Then again, by you posting this, lotta folks will learn this lesson, which is what it's all about, I guess.

Apparently some lawyer contacted her to help fight it / get it reduced. Is this a legit thing to need representation or going to court and saying I'll never do it again is enough?

Reality is most of the people who have handicapped tags these days are welfare people gaming the system. It's true in the Lsu area anyway.

This.
Although 90% of people with a HC tag don't need it either.
And $650 is pretty high.

it's the government looking after it's people.

The $650 will go directly to the people who will use that handicap spot "legally" when they use their Auntie's handicap sticker on their own Chrysler 300 while going in to get free groceries on the government 's tab.

So now all handicapped people are scheming black people. You're ridiculous. Most of the people I've seen game spaces are lower class, overweight whites.

I agree. I see it with the fire lane all the time.

Idiots think it's ok to park there and block traffic just bc someone stays in the car.
