The fine for parking in a fire zone is less than $100. Handicap spot $650. Learn the lesson. Use fire zones.

Trashy move. Glad she got the ticket. Too many people get away with that sort of thing.

It's $650 for a reason. To stop dumbasses from parking there

Only on the OT where the truth is taken as a troll and the trolls are taken as truth. It happens to be my experience and my observation, and by my eyes it is undoubtedly true. Your experience may be different and no less truthful, but it doesn't discount mine.

This. I think that's where the OP's story (or his wife's story) falls apart.

Personally, I feel this fines should be more. Just my two cents.

So my mother and sister were running errands and in the rain with 2 kids did the "pull in to a handicap spot while passenger runs into the store" and got a ticket

Now she is looking at a $650 ticket. There's no arguing they were wrong but is their anyway to get it reduced. 650 is a bit excessive for a damn parking ticket

It's not excessive at all. My grandmother is in her 70s and takes care of her child who is severely handicapped. If she can't get that spot, she's fricked if my aunt is with her for whatever reason. If you're not handicapped, don't pull into the spot. Period. I bet she never does that again, and for that, I'm glad the ticket is that high.

My beef is there are usually way too many spots to ever be needed.

As far as gaming them goes, my Mom has a tag that she let's us use when I visit to take her somewhere. I don't even like doing that, even though it is for her and it is quite handy because she doesn't move all that well. If it were up to me I'd drop her off at the front and go find a spot.

She is getting fined for parking in a handicapped space, not for "a damn parking ticket".

Why not just drop the person off and circle the parking lot for a bit?

You could probably do this 10x for the price of that handicap spot.

If this is the same person I know that got this same ticket recently then the op is lying. They parked there and went in and shopped for over an hour. It was raining so they wanted to get a spot close to the front

Imagine if every car with 2 crying kids in the rain during Christmas shopping parked in a handicap parking spot.

You think your people are special? Excuses are like assholes.

Sometimes. But there's also way more HC tags out there than are needed. Lazy fricks.

Can't imagine a lawyer wasting their time on a 650 dollar ticket. Their fee will surpass this.

Nah, you're not getting Dershowitz to fight this for you.

Every town has a courthouse lawyer that walks in with a stack of ten plus tickets a day to plea them down at one or two hundred a pop. Not much "lawyering" to it.

Doesn't matter. There are many that legit need those tags. So no excuse for parking in a HC spot. Just a trashy thing to do IMO.

'm not trying to defend it just $650 is insane for a parking ticket.

It's meant to be punitive to make you think twice before screwing over a handicapped person. Seems like mission accomplished.
