It has worked out well for me so far. I tell my favorite salesguy exactly what I want hand him a $500 check and he shops across other stealerships and finds one that meets my wants and makes a deal with them and he gets it delivered. Longest I’ve waited was about a month and that was in 2022 Covid times.

He's just sourcing a vehicle for you. You're not special ordering a new vehicle from Toyota.

I had to fly to St Louis to buy my last Toyota. You can search which vehicles and specs are going to each dealership and you call them. If the buyer backs out they’ll call you. I paid $2250 over MSRP, but the vehicle is slick as duck shite.

A flight, a hotel (at least one night), a 10 hour drive, and ~700 miles on an new vehicle. And a $2250 (at minimum) delta. For a Toyota.

Jesus.

I drove it in one day. The car is supposed to break in, <4000 rpm, for 1000 miles…so I just took it chill. No dealership in our region had any manuals…so really, when you’re searching the entire country for a vehicle one due north isnt that bad. After some tint, lowering springs and camber bolts, clear sidemarkers…it looks pretty good.

I’m too old to drive that though, bought it for my 17 yr old son.

Toyota has never really offered buy to spec. They just look what is being delivered in the future and trade to get it with other dealerships

Those are "port installed options", and yes those can be specified by the dealer.

It's not region specific. Toyota, as an entity, doesn't not allow Special Orders, period.

Hey Rush, you're the guy I wanna talk to!

What's Gulf State's deal with manual transmission Tacoma's? I want one, and looked a few months back...the closest dealer I could find to New Orleans was in Georgia. One dealer told me y'all just don't ship those into this market. What's the deal? Thanks

In 2023 The US bought 235,000 Tacomas. A little over 3,000 were manual.

We don't get them because no one actually wants them.

The new Tacoma will have more trim levels available with a manual, so we should see a few around the Gulf States area.

Hey rush I’m looking for a tundra 1794 Limited edition. I know they only making 1500 of them. What’s the best way to get one?

There’s a few on the Alexandria Toyota parking lot. I’m looking to get the same in the next 1-2 years

That’s the regular 1794 edition. The limited version isn’t on lots yet and they only making 1,500 of them.

Most dealers I’ve talked to don’t even realize what I’m talking about.

I'm a Toyota fan, but just don't like the look of these. If they do a mid cycle refresh and make it look like the sequoia then I might be interested.

My buddy ordered a Toyota for his daughter, took a little while to come in. No problem with the order.

Arlington Toyota in Jacksonville. They do everything they can to flip their inventory.

Good to know. I've dealt with Thomasville Toyota and Peter Boulware Toyota in Tallahassee and wasn't too pleased with either.

A year ago I traded a 13 year old Toyota for a new one.

I don’t feel that way at all.
