So you can't order a truck to spec anymore at Toyota? How long has this been a thing?

I just want to know if anyone has been able to order an F150 and lock in the rebates and price when you order.

Should be easy to do with the huge inventories they have right now.

I tried to order a Sienna last year and it was a fiasco. 0/10 do not recommend.

You can if you find the right dealer.

No idea about what the dealership would do, but I specked out a Corolla on their national website, and they had all the available options. Looked like it could be processed all right there.

Always. I had to fly to St Louis to buy my last Toyota. You can search which vehicles and specs are going to each dealership and you call them. If the buyer backs out they’ll call you. I paid $2250 over MSRP, but the vehicle is slick as duck shite.

My ol lady ordered a 4Runner 3 weeks ago. It wasn’t difficult at all.

You aren’t ‘ordering’ a car. They get their same allotment no matter if you show up or not. If you ‘order’ a blue trd pro 4runner and give them a $500 deposit…you get the next blue trd pro.

If you’re really picky then they’ll just keep your $500 until you ask for it back…because they’re never getting that vehicle allotted. You search what is ‘in delivery’ or being manufactured now…that are allotted to every dealership in the country and you buy the exact spec you want from wherever.

Forever I think. You can't special order a toyota I'm pretty sure. When you build one on their website, it will just show matches close to you. They aren't going to take your order with your options and build it just for you (like porsche or someone like that would).

I work for Gulf States Toyota, who distributes the Toyotas to all of the dealers in our region.

This is the correct answer. You cannot Special Order a Toyota, regardless of what any dealer will tell you.

Toyota doesn’t really do orders, but I wouldn’t worry too much. It would be cool to be order every detail like Porsche but that isn’t the Toyota business model. The dealer by me house around 65-70 tundras on the lot.

Last year when I was looking they had 5 or 6 any given day.

It has worked out well for me so far. I tell my favorite salesguy exactly what I want hand him a $500 check and he shops across other stealerships and finds one that meets my wants and makes a deal with them and he gets it delivered. Longest I’ve waited was about a month and that was in 2022 Covid times.

Every Tacoma I've purchased, I just tell my sales guy the exact specs I'm looking for and they search within their distribution network. If you're buying in BR, it's a good practice to shop 2 distribution channels. For example, Baton Rouge dealer and a Mobile, AL dealer. You eliminate any run around regarding, "we can't find one"
