I have a 28 on the ACT and a 3.0 tips GPA, I know people who have 4.0s and can barely score a 24. GPAs will differ with the difficulty of the school and their curriculum

So he was/is a hard worker, doesn't mean the standardized test weren't an accurate reflection of his intelligence.

You do realize that this will be considered racist since the wide majority of students who qualify for this will be White and Asian.

How is a test score racist? Are math problems geared towards whites and asians different than others?? I didn't think standardized tests had the ability to be racist.

The thinking that black students can't get a 28 is more racist.

This holds true in both high school AND college GPAs

those students aren't even taking the ACT, dear

All students in public high schools are required to take the ACT. It's part of the school's performance score now.

Would cause people to retake it and actually study for it. I took it twice without studying made a 24 as a sophomore and 27 as a junior. Didn't study or take it again cause I knew scoring any higher wasn't going to get me anything at LSU

well African American act scores are really poor. So that's where the thought comes from.

I almost thought maybe they could have a different ACT requirement for black kids, but they do have a lot of scholarships for minority (and need-based) students. As a middle-class while girl, TOPS was my only scholarship.

I thought it was a 36 in the early 90s...

I got a 32.

Getting a 32 as a female in the late 90s? LA schools should have been beating your door down. Were they?

I bet ones who say it doesn't matter are ones that didn't have a good GPA because they didn't try in high school.

Yep! I earned a 31 on the ACT but only had a 3.5ish GPA because I didn't think high school was worth the increased effort to earn a higher GPA.
