I drove a truck over the road, I'm familiar with Dallas. To be fair that's one nicest cities I've been through. Hated driving south of that in TX though.

I'm referring more to toll roads like the ones in Illinois.

I could understand not realizing a handful of unpaid toll transactions... but hundreds and thousands? Nope.

I'm believe those totals include penalties, interest and other late fees tacked on in addition to the toll charge. The actual toll charges are much less than what is shown in the OPs link.

yeah it would be racist for most of them. Ronny needs to go to jail to set an example.

Because the other toll roads are owned by state, regional, county or city authorities. That one is owned by a company based in Madrid, Spain. So some people have chosen to be like "good luck enforcing your fine."

Imagine there was a store that would never stop anyone from stealing but just videotaped it if it happened and sent it to the police, but the police refused to ever go after anyone they taped stealing. Eventually, there'd be some people who just stole from there all the time.

They start tacking on major fees that are way more than the initial toll

It happened to me twice when I forgot to update my debit card info. But I called and they took them off

How long does it take to run up $236,000.00 worth of tolls?

Meh, I can kind of see the argument. If you tax people for miles driven you ding them for out of state miles and give people from other states a free ride. GPS tracking is too Orwellian. Taxing gasoline invariably makes the government get too greedy and people start driving hybrids to offset the cost. Toll roads suck but they also avoid the other issues.

It would be nice for the sensors to set out road spikes if a violator came through.

Then, a light up board would post "honk and laugh at the next car!"

You'd think that with the money that does come in the roads would be a little bit less shitty.

Lols. The second you cross I-10 from Orange to LA you immediately notice the difference in roads. And it doesn't favor LA. Same for i35 on the way to OK.

I crossed the state line 20 minutes ago and I cross is 4-6 times a week, and right there Louisiana >>> Texas in every single fashion. Maybe if texas could complete that fricking construction I would say differently but not right now.

Semi OT, but

Two years ago I got something in the mail about a parking meter violation downtown that I needed to pay. It was my car described in the letter and had exact dates and times, only.... I hadn't been downtown in months at that point(nor even parked my new car at a meter since owning it) and was clearly at work in a completely different part of town during the time it said I was illegally parked.

I still wonder WTF that was all about. Do they just make shite up to meet a quota towards the end of the month? Either way I sent them proof that I was at work and it went away, but they never said how it came about.

must all be from SH-130. There are no toll booths, it just takes pictures of your plate. It runs through Round Rock, Hutto and P-ville. seems like a lot of that list are from that area.

It's $20 each time you hit a toll? Damn, Texas.

I paid it once or tiwce, the other time I didn't bother. They mail a bill to your house, for like $5. The highway has changed my yearly drive to Austin.

Now instead of taking I-10 to I-610 to 290, I take I-10 to Sh-130 and 130 to Hutto.
So quick and such high speed limits, and I no longer have to drive through Giddings and get pulled over for having Louisiana plates.

are you literally saying that you think the roads in Louisiana are better than Texas? I'm not saying Texas is the best, but LA's are pretty terrible. and i love LA.

LINK

Best roads:
29. TX
50. LA

Deadliest Roads:
2. LA
16. TX

ETA: I prefer y'all's roads to OK's or NMs. NM's are freaking terrible.
