Sounds like a frat party. Is any of that really "shocking"?

A bunch of unmitigated pieces of shite.

The point in which your opportunity for "networking" outweighs saving a dying pledge makes you absolute scum.

I just have to wonder if that kid had any real friends there. It just seems incredibly cruel and selfish to not call an ambulance just because your fraternity may get a strike or be suspended. I think I can safely say even if there were members of my fraternity that didn't want us to call an ambulance that my actual friends would have done it regardless to save my life.

That's how you measure true friendship. Being a friend is being someone who is willing to sacrifice part of their life for you at a moment's notice. Those people weren't his friends if they didn't call an ambulance for him until the last possible second where it was solely about their own self preservation. So frick that fraternity.

There's going to be at least one slapdick that draws the short straw and becomes the example.

Settle down dude, he was a pledge. Most of the older people likely didn't even know his name

It's sad that I'm not surprised something like this happened

The point where he falls down the stairs, most decent people would've picked up the phone and called 911. Knowing their name or not.

frick them.

Good point. I always make sure people know I'd leave them hanging in a life or death situation before I'm willing to start being their friend. "Hey, I nearly let you die a couple weeks ago! Now we are brothers for life! Time for a mixer!!!"

Other pledges are mentioned once in the entire story line. It's wrong to focus on where this kids friends were instead of what kind of assholes even allow this to happen to someone. It's like blaming fellow pledges for not stopping actives being douchebags

I think people pretending this is some fraternity problem rather than a generalized college/sports team/fraternity/whatever problem are laughable. But I agree that it's ridiculous to say his pledge brothers failed him.

They may have, of course, but everyone there failed him.

This is so fricked. Unfortunately all these rich pieces of shite will never see jail. I would serve them up some street justice.

You are missing the point, if everyone was his friend and knew him then this wouldn't have happened. He's just some pledge that couldn't hold his liquor to older people.im not saying it makes sense, but it's clearly how it played out

that's really shitty but this could happen at most fraternity houses across the country. Most drunk 20 year olds aren't going to immediately call for an ambulance in that situation. Sucks but sounds sorta like a freak injury deal to me.
