The lack of IQ/Common Sense in this area when it comes to this is mind boggling to me also.

The only down side to this to me is that I don't think the infrastructure of the area is efficient enough. Traffic is going to be terrible in the area for a long time.

sulphur is going to have some infrastructure issues for sure, BUT, it's going to have a huge arse boom, too. they get the biggest benefits, but have to deal with those benefits. a winning trade imho

the bigger issue to me is going to be how the sulphur political spectrum deals with the thinning of power of "sulphur people"

My family has a bunch of property in rural St Landry that I would be more than happy to rent out for a man camp.

Rock solid truth right there.

I grew up around 2 of the last mayoral candidates.....Sulphur all their lives.

same with the football coaches. They'll never get rid of a couple of those guys that's been there since they've graduated high school.....from Sulphur.

I've been down in that area quite a bit. It's mainly white trash and elderly couples. I would expect nothing less than this from a few racist redneck/hick/coonasses

The camps along the river are nice though.

this letter is awesome

quote:

These will be foreign or alien workers from different countries. These are not union craftsmen.

quote:

From what we've heard, the facility in Lake Charles is on Port Property by the Sheriff's Department and strip clubs.

quote:

Let them house their workers in Cameron Parish where they will be working. They will work in Hackberry but play in our neighborhood. They have no pride of ownership. They won't get off of work and cut the grass on the property they own. They won't take their children and grandchildren to play ball. It will be 2500 foreign men with nothing to do and money in their pocket.

i hear this and i think

how can i serve these people? how can i get them to voluntarily hand me that money in exchange for something of value?

quote:

2500 workers could add 2500 cars traversing Hwy 27, Hwy 108 and all roads in Carlyss. Those foreigners without cars will be walking our streets at all hours.

quote:

ur families will not be safe. Even if only 10% of these workers are criminals, drunks or dope heads, that puts 250 criminals, drunks and dope heads on our streets and in our neighborhoods. Then add the prostitution and drug dealers that will supply a portion of 2500 men making $80,000 per year (as the contractor claims).

quote:

The company claims these workers will be drug tested. That remains to be seen but alcohol is legal and these people will have 12 hours a day on their hands when they are not at work.

quote:

This work is being done in Hackberry in Cameron Parish. When asked why they don't put it in Cameron Parish the company said there is not enough land. Nonsense! Cameron Parish is the largest parish in the state geographically with the lowest population.

quote:

Joe Palermo

is this the one who was just indicted?

In a few years, once this boom is at it's height, I plan to sell my home and build. One of my first choices was in Carlyss and these new subs that are popping up. I'll still look down there, but I think Moss Bluff will be my first choice now.

Coco showed me this letter last night and I read it a couple times, actually. But the ONE thing that I came away with after reading it was EXACTLY this......

quote:

These will be foreign or alien workers from different countries. These are not union craftsmen.

There's no doubt in my mind that a union worker wrote this letter.

that letter rambles from liberal union chest thumping to xenophobia to the religious right asking "what about the children?"

That as well. I guess they've never been to Hackberry and the surrounding swampland capable of building mancamps upon.

Cameron Parish has a ton of land, but it's basically all wetlands and can't be insured

that's a double layer of costs

That's what I was getting at.

Hackberry has grown out as far as it can already.

The rest is just the Refuge and nothing but swampland. There's really no where else to put them.

...and what good would it do for Calcasieu Parish as far as the economy? You put it south of Hackberry and these people are almost an hour away from anything.

That's when you start having problems, IMO.
