The Russians and the Chinese don’t have sophisticated propaganda operations. They don’t understand us well enough to be effective.
The Soviets did, but that’s because they had a lot of American born allies who understood us, and were in a position to influence the culture, be it through Hollywood, news media, academia, or the publishing industry. Communism was also an idea that you could translate into local cultures with some effectiveness.
