vbutch WAS in the Pentagon ... don't know him from Adam but I'm 99.9% positive that he was.

Will this forever bring this many emotions to me ON 9/11?

I keep thinking about the people who "experienced" both Pearl Harbor AND 9/11 .. what a lifetime of heartache brought to America.

Not sure, but my boss from when I worked in DC, her now husband and dad both worked in the Pentagon. Dad was on the other side, husband's office was on the outer ring, third floor, second window on the right that isn't blown out. The force of the crash threw him across the room.

At the time, she was a producer for CBS's DC bureau going into work early because of the NYC attack and was on Hwy 110 and watched it happen.

I was a sophomore in HS in 1st period religion class when we turned on the TV and then watched the second tower get hit. About 5 minutes after that, classes changed for 2nd period and I've never heard a hallway that silent.

I was working on a construction crew at the Superdome on 9/11. Someone mentioned that there was something going down in NYC at the WTC. Shortly after that Superdome security came and told us to GTFO, everyone had to leave. They were worried that the Superdome could be a possible target. Remember that the Superbowl was going to be in the dome that season.

No I don't remember him crying at all! I do remember thinking how in the F did Matt Lauer and Katie Couric keep their composure.

THEN their reporter from the Pentagon starts talking live and is like "oh there's a terrible noise" or whatever and I'm FREAKING THE HELL OUT.

God I don't think I'll EVER forget any of it.

I was in 4th Grade. I just remember kids getting pulled out of class and then my mom coming to get me. She briefly explained what had happened and when I got home my dad had the TV on. First thing I saw was the video of a man jumping out of the WTC. I instantly knew the seriousness of what I was witnessing. My mom worked in Downtown Houston in the tallest building and the building was closed for a couple of days because no one knew if there were more going to be more attacks and where they would happen if there were more attacks.

Slightly off topic, but a friend of mine who was on my soccer team lost his dad in the War in Afghanistan shortly after we invaded. He was a helicopter pilot and it was shot down. I can distinctly remember when he found out. We were at soccer practice and we noticed 3 members of the military walking over to the fields. Damarcus was called over to them and then he just started busting out in tears and he left with the men. We were told by our coach what happened. He moved that weekend to his grandparents place in another state and we never saw him again. It was one of the hardest things I have ever seen and I will never forget Damarcus or his father.

I was a freshman at LSU. Rolled out of bed and went to my first class of the day at 9 AM (Sociology) without noticing anything around me. The professor mentioned a "terrible accident" in New York, but this was before any of us knew the second plane hit so it didn't really register. I left class and went to the union to grab a snack before my next class. They had the news on every TV, and I was stuck to it for at least a couple of hours. It was completely surreal.

One odd thing I remember was the British instantly reacted and sent AWACS planes to fly over AMERICA. To my knowledge thats the only time an Allied Force has ever flown over the US in an operational capacity.

First off, nice OP. Really nice. That's got to feel good for that kid.

Second, I'm with you ksaye...I remember exactly when and how I heard about 9/11. I was walking between CEBA and Tureaud Hall, crossing Stadium Drive. I passed a girl on her FLIP PHONE (LOLZZZ!!) and she said "They hit the World Trade Center?" And I looked back at her and she was concerned. I went to class, then home to my apartment after. I got home and my roommate was sitting in front of the TV, Indian style, staring at it like the RCA dog. We watched all day and night long.

I still haven't made it to the end. I can only take it in 10-20 second increments.

I remember calling my GF at the time to tell her not to go to class and to come home because class was going to be cancelled anyway and at the time there was hysteria everywhere.
I was at Nicholls, and it was my full day of classes. I was ticked cause none got cancelled and I just wanted to be home watching the news.

I had class from 9-11, 1-4, and 6-9. The last class let us watch news the last 30 minutes in class, that was it.

I think it was a Tuesday, if I recall.

The whole day was surreal. Seeing the towers fall was bad but when a co-worker came by and said the Pentagon had been hit I started to get really freaked out. I honestly thought some places in the country might even get nuked before the day was done. The whole day was a major shock to the system.
