You had to have known my aunt. She worked there until it closed then moved to fields in twin City Mall.
CADu703X,
I may have, but that was '67-'68. I have an excellent long-term memory, but can't place that name.
If Ester is still alive, ask her if she knew the lady that was supervisor in the drapery department. The movie Bonnie and Clyde came out during that time frame. They were ambushed near Gibsland. So that movie was all the talk. Well, this supervisor lady was the neice as I recall, of the sheriff of the parish where Gibsland is located. She put us onto some interesting stuff, such as the exact spot it occurred as well as some photos and stories from her Uncle.

Everyone lived on Jennifer Lane at some point or Town & Country apartments.
I knew quite a few people from Magnolia Drive area from the old Jack Hayes days. As a matter of fact one of my friends brought old J.R. Akins the other day

Many a Friday-Saturday night there listening to the incomparable GeeGee Shinn and the Boogie Kings!

Also saw 3 Dog Night at the ??? Center. Few others, but can't remember. They tried to get Jimi Hendrix, but it didn't happen.

The Monroe Civic Center had some damn good concerts back in the day. B. J. Thomas, Three Dog Night, Grand Funk Railroad, Neil Diamond, Elvis, and many more.
I remember the night they pulled the plug on Steppenwolf during "The Pusher Man".

What year? This rings a bell for me, as in we were still there, but can't recall for sure.
Magic Carpet Ride was my anthem. Raced motocross and endure in the Columbia area. Prior to each race, the ex-wife would fire that up to full volume on my 66 Mustang fully equipped with a "reverb" and I would WFO that Bultaco/Kawasaki to the start line. Not many beat me to the first turn, but mostly won 3rds and 4ths...no stamina!
Speaking of motocross and flat track, how long did Jordan Saw & Marine in West Monroe survive after I left in 1970? Motorcyle heaven with those guys...I believe Scott Jordan was one of the owner's son's. He was younger than I, but we raced AMA.

Is this an actual place that exists? I've never heard of it.
ETA... nvm. I googled. All I know about this school is growing up watching the lumberjacks lay wood to them.

Probably already mentioned but Tonga Island, OomPah Pizza (around the corner from Sal's) and the seafood place where the Cypress Inn is/was. On Wed. night they would have raw oysters for a dime apiece and a dollar for a pitcher of beer. My personal record was three dozen oysters one night.

Came to St. Freds my senior year.
Ran us seniors into the ground after we had a party at my house. Kids throwing up and stuff. It was pretty ugly.

Scott raced motorcycles all over the world for awhile, and ended up driving buses for Mayo tours. he died a few years ago. John was the older son.
i rode my first jet ski when scott brought one to Lazarre point in the back of his van and let all the river rats ride it.

quote:yup. I was good friends with his youngest daughter and my best memory of him is going canoeing with him down the Buffalo River.. We were out of control and capsized about 8 times because we kept aiming for the most dangerous spots going down the river.
Ray Gambino? Best football coach ever
He was crazy..I was 16 so I was too. He had just won his first state championship right before we went so he was amped up.
