Shultz Hall food was terrible.

However bad Shultz was, Coenen was that great! Especially on Steak Night (Wed.)! Half the Wed. nights one semester we ordered nothing but Cokes because we carried in a flask. This was when Coach St. Amant brought all of his South Louisiana boys up for the baseball team. I hung out with some of them but couldn't keep up with those guys. They all had jobs at bars around town.

I walked out of Shultz with this bad boy one morning when they'd gotten a new shipment of them.

It was my rolling/smoking tray.

Had many a JDF in 72-73 at Sherrouse Hall because, as was said a few pages back, the Schulz Cafeteria food was awful.

I went to Delta CC for summer school one summer and I lived in university trailer park right across the street. I think I killed 25% of my liver that summer.

Who else followed the clues for the million quality stamps fm102 hid?

Who remembers where the stamps were found?

Who remembers rascal flats radio show on the mornings?

How about Nick's cage rexell... In West Monroe.

Was that a bar or a store?

The Palace was a fairly high end department store, circa 1940-60's. Everything from underwear to high quality handmade draperies. I made cornices for drapes and sold men's clothing. That was from 67-68, then 68/69 to 1970 as I recall selling shoes at JC Penney. To this day (age 70) that was the most fun I ever had in a job...learned all of my skills with the ladies in this job!!

I can't even remember if there was an Eastgate then. I remember Gibson's (large discount). No Ralph & Cacoos either. I also worked at Columbian Carbon Laboratory on 18th street. One of only a few electron microscopes in the state at that time.

Left Monroe immediately after graduation to work in Houston, then came back for a short stint working as a mgr. trainee at JC Penney. That was my last job in retail...onto bigger and better things in Petro industry.

Great times were had by our group in Monroe. Hunting, fishing, partying, girls, etc.!!! Never got into sports as I was a gungho 100% LSU fan from SoLA.

It was open well into the 1970s because I can vaguely remember it. It was huge as I remember it but I was probably five.

Its been refurbished as an art gallery, concert hall and wedding venue.

My aunt worked at the Palace. Spent many many Saturdays running around the store.

Gibson's was near superslide, Bakery thrift shop, Geneva's and Eastgate cinema. Later became Howard brothers.

18th St used to get the parade and there was a Dunkin donuts across the street from the McDonald's courtesy room. My mom would buy us a donut and we'd sit on the curb waiting for the parade. Many birthday parties took place at courtesy room too.

The long john silvers on 18th was the bomb and of course we had the YMCA led by the great Edwin Davis and the public library with the coldest AC in the city.

Also 18th had that cool arcade in the 80s.. Can't remember the name.

18th also has the best pharmacy hamburgers ever but I can't remember the name of the place.

You had to have known my aunt. She worked there until it closed then moved to fields in twin City Mall.

Her first name was Esther.
