It's not easy for anyone to reduce the comfort level they're accustomed to. People aren't willing to raise children with less than they had or to reduce their own accustomed comforts. Nobody wants to take a step back simply for procreation. Like I said earlier, I think it's short-sighted but it's definitely a problem.

The idea is to not set it that high in the first place.

What I'm saying is the level is set by how they were raised themselves.

It absolutely sucks to reduce your comfort level but you must adjust your spending with the economy, this is basic.

I get tired of hearing people complaining about money but see them having new stuff all the time. Going on vacation is not a necessity every single year. Mardi gras balls are not a necessity.

Also, if you drink alcohol or partake in any recreational partying Id also like to point out that is 100% wasted money yet 85% are involved.

I dont buy the whole cost is rising is the reason I have no money argument. People need to step up and take responsibility for their spending and teach their kids to do better.

That is one “privilege” I had. My parents worked in factories and both lost their jobs, damn near the same time, when NAFTA was passed and fully implemented. Mom had to retrain (became an LPN), stepdad went from one job to two (at half the pay), me and my stepbrother each got jobs after school and funded a week of food each. We had a garden, we killed and packed freezer with deer meat during the season, we fixed our own shitty cars.

So when I became an adult with a decent job, I was in my early 20s already as successful as my parents had ever been.

And the point of this article, in my opinion, is that people would rather maintain their comfort level than to have kids right now. I don't necessarily disagree with anyone who makes that decision. I think it's short-sighted on their part but I understand why it's happening

When the cost of everything shoots up considerably with no corresponding increase in income, what else would happen?

I used to buy groceries for my entire family once a month as a HS kid, because if I didn’t we wouldn’t have eaten that week.

Damn you must’ve had some lazy arse parents.

Apparently everyone is supposed to keep having more kids and just eat more bologna sandwiches, drive crappy vehicles, and not take vacations

Income isn’t fixed for most people. Get a better job, get 2..people love to whine when action is what’s needed. The cost of everything sucks nowadays.

I dont disagree with anyone making their own decisions. Its selfish, that is clear.

But dont bitch or complain later on in life about your decisions

They got laid off, like tens of thousands of other American factory workers when they moved everything to Mexico. It wasn’t that way until HS.

So get a second job at the expense of spending time with my family is the answer?
