advance of a parade. Any of ya'll ever do shite to mess up these people's plans?
I rode down Orleans for the hell of it on Saturday and noticed some areas already have huge areas of spray painted squares for people to reserve their spots. bullshite!
And nothing used to be worse than the guys on St. Charles who would put up a few tens, 25 folding chairs and caution tape all over the place and then leave for the night.

My parents used to do that shite. Get up before dawn for Endymion and Bacchus and set up the ladders and chairs. Started doing it after my grandma got knocked off a stool and broke her arm during a parade, she was 85+. We would stumble in around late afternoon and would always have tons of neighbors and friends in the space, so it's not like we wasted space.

IMO you shouldn't be able to reserve a spot without parking a car there or having a person there 24/7

I don't want to mess up anybody's plans. There's enough space out there for anyone who wants to put in the smallest bit of effort. Hell, the people in back of me normally catch more than I do.

Orleans is the worst street about staking claim to the neutral ground. Those people get militant about their turf.
I wish they'd ban tailgate tents at parades. If you want to put out chairs and tables, fine, but don't block everyone behind you with a tent you don't use during the parade.

My wife's family was militant about guarding the ladders overnights from Friday thru Tuesday. We all had to take shifts.
These are the grandmothers who enjoyed crushing fingers if you reached for stuff they considered theirs.

They passed a law last year banning them but it's not being enforced. Saw two of them where I was on St. Charles Sunday. One of them literally took up half the neutral ground
