This should be fun. Like most EV threads.

As long as they put them at bucees, shouldn't be a problem. EV owners can spend hours there.
Bucees stacked with Superchargers.

I own a Tesla, but I 100% agree on the Mandate. As of now, it's only been CA that has put a BS mandate in place for the year 2035. While I disagree with that completely, it's not like you won't still be able to buy a used ICE vehicle in CA and drive that for 15+ years.

There’s one at the grocery store near me and I tend to only see one certain demographic parked there. Idk if it’s just me though

Those maps are bullshite. What dumb bastard is going to drive his Tesla to Australia?

Still have to sit around for 20-30 minutes not even to fully charge

considering it used to be 6-8 hours they have come a very long way in just a few short years so 20-30 minutes is impressive. plug in and go eat lunch, and then you are all charged up and ready to go.

Have the people who claim to drive 14 hours in a day 20 times per year checked in yet?

most times you cant even do that at the gas pump
Posted on 5/1/23 at 12:44 pm to keakar
You only get your gas at Costco?

Using electricity derived from fossil fuels (for the most part).
sooooo green!!!

My bro-in-law's daily territory covers Lake Charles to the panhandle towing a 26ft cargo trailer with a GMC 2500 for his pool company. But yeah, let's do away with fossil fuels.
And yes, no matter what EV people try to tell you, this would make road trips a pain in the arse. Again.... ALTERNATIVE, not MANDATE. That's it. The market will take care of the rest.

woah man, i am a firm believer in ICE vehicles until we can make a transition to alternative fuels, but we gotta get power infrastructure in place to ease that transition
I've said this a lot here but I'll say it again:
If every single passenger vehicle in the US switched to EV overnight, we would have to boost electricity production by about 25-30%. That's really not a lot and we have the capacity to do that already. The bigger issue is peak demand, though EVs can actually reduce our peak demand rather than increase it by time-shifting that demand. This requires the majority of chargers to be capable of back-feeding to the grid, but given that it will take multiple decades for EV adoption to come anywhere near 100% I believe this will be a smooth transition with no need to panic about any harm that EVs might cause the grid.

Filling my truck up from E to full takes 5 minutes as of about 10 minutes ago.

This is just Tesla superchargers as well. There are lots of other charging competitors that are available now too. Electric companies have gotten really behind getting these up and running. Now we just need better ranged cars.

Been thinking about getting a Tesla so we'd have one ICE vehicle and one electric. Would be nice for the commuting and shorter trips.
