So many poor people who just want to say they have a Tesla will go after this. Not a knock against Tesla. I'm just pointing out one of the mentalities of this country that I think is very wrong.

There's a lot of jealousy in this thread...

I feel like it's coming from the same people that hate on Mac products but secretly wish they had the extra cash to afford them.

If people want to buy it, let them who cares?

Most Americans don't go on long road trips very frequently. Most Americans do drive to work every day, and come home every day. I could see this appealing to the working population.

This tech is definitely paving the way. More of infrastructure is needed though.

Where are things with rapid charge technology now? Until someone can charge up on the go for long road trips, electric will never become feasible for a large chunk of Americans.

Someone I work with has a Tesla and they took a road trip to Disney this year in it. I was told they have tesla charging stations and they just planned their trip so they can stop at those along the way when needed and they really didn't take terribly long to charge. I think they said like 30 minutes or so.

Found info on the supercharging stations. They are also free to use.

You have reading comprehension issues.

The $7,500 credit drops the price below $30k, the price before is $35k. Anyone relying on that credit to afford the car is financially irresponsible in the first place.

Is there any evidence to support this? Why do you think it's "poor people" ordering these? It's less than half the cost of the Model S - why wouldn't it be normal people who want to see if they can get by with an electric car but don't want to spend $90k on the experiment?

This is the case, the $35k doesn't include the tax credit.

This is the OT. Only poor people drive sub 100k vehicles. Except the baws who whine and bitch about 50K F150s.

So LA Tax Credit is $8,000 for a Tesla 70D and $9,500 for either of the 85 models.

If this is anywhere near close to applicable, with the ability to carry unused Tax Credits forward from year to year, this is extremely attractive for Louisiana buyers whether there's no Federal Tax Rebate available for EV purchase or not by the time the Base Model 3's are available on a consistent scale.

Very impressed.

Or maybe there are just people who would buy a $35k car who are excited to have a new option with a lot of great technology available.

bc rich people dont drive $35,000 cars. The model S and X are both $100k cars and its silly we subsidize them to begin with. I want a subsidy on my rolls royce too while we're at it. The fact of the matter is that at 200,000 cars there will no longer be a subsidy for tesla. Tesla is hyping the model 3 as $35,000 + a $7500 subsidy.....at the rate tesla is delivering cars that subsidy will not be there for most of the 130,000 who put deposits yesterday. As the article I posted states: previous owners get it before the public and then those with fully loaded models closer to $80k get it. So by the time some guy gets his $35k bare bones tesla model 3, the subsidy will be long gone.........but tesla didnt really explain that to them. It is just silly the whole electric car movement, there's been studies that show electric is worse for the environment than gas. Here's one

LINK

Electric cars are just a liberal utopia fallacy that democrats love to subsidize because they think they're saving the environment. Can you power a tesla at a charging station using solar power? Absolutely, but most of these people just plug it in at home and charge it there, how is the electricity in your home generated???? Its not by the sun I can tell you that much. Either way, lining up to by a $35,000 car is just silly. That is why I think its gonna be awesome when most of those model 3 buyers realize they're not getting $7500 off. That will be closer to delivery though. For now this was just basically another secondary, which if you follow the stock you'll see Elon has pulled off multiple times. He's a charlatan look how he had spaceX his other company buy up the Solar City Bonds nobody wanted

LINK

Elon is a master marketer, Ill give him his props, but its all smoke and mirrors his whole Tesla,Solar City,SpaceX is a house of cards. Look deep into it, see the countless secondaries, the way he moves money between the entities to prop them up, its really comical. Of course the fanboys will have their responses, yes I do think its cool to have a $35K car with all the features tesla is proposing but the reality is its not really that clean for the environment if you charge it at home and you're not getting $7500 off more than likely and the "autonomous" features he talks about are silly. The car doesnt stop at stop signs and red lights. The car merely stops and goes on the highway, mercedes launched "distronic" in like 2003 that had the same features of braking and going when the car infront of you did so. Wake me up when his car stops at stop lights and can read traffic lights and avoid potholes.

You do realize the government, which is currently (and likely will be in the future) controlled by friends of Elon and the EV industry could easily extend the tax credit right?

Also electrical generation is still much more efficient than burning gasoline but whatever.

elon is a facade, tesla has been burning through cash, he's smart though instead of doing a secondary, he uses the hype machine he's built and just raised a fortune yesterday with all these deposits. Think about it, the sheep just gave him over $130M yesterday in deposits vs him having to do a secondary for the umpteenth time. LOL at people pre-ordering a $35K car. A camry or altima has never seen such hype.

Dude, I know you own gas stations and stuff, but you are spewing BS in this thread and the other Tesla thread. Also weren't you thinking of getting a Model S yourself? Looks like you got a Mercedes S class and are now needlessly bad mouthing Tesla. You better have some plans to turn your gas stations into electric charging stations in the next decade or so, or your inheritance will be worthless to your children. For someone that's probably not even 40, your thinking and mentality is like that of a dinosaur.
