Look, the state of mississippi is pretty much a dump but the "gulf coast" (actually the mississippi sound)is the worst of it...even worse than the delta.

If you really believe this you are mentally challenged.

Yea he is either mentally challenged which is sad in itself, so just stop responding. Or he is trolling, which in that case you stop responding.

Either way haha probably just go ahead and stop. There is not one single area or quality that the Delta of MS can say is better than the Coast. The coast it could be argued is the best area of MS as a whole. I can see the arguements for the Pine Belt, nicer areas of Jackson, and northern MS has really grown as well.

But the delta....and whoever said Clarksdale???? The delta may actually be outside of native reservations in the running for overally worst places to live in America. Seriously, illiteracy is very high. Healthcare is awful, many still live in shacks with no power or running water, and there are no jobs. What is anyone missing? Its not about race but the only white people that either claim to be from there or still live there, are extremely welthy farmers or politicians....or both

Parts of Clarksdale and Greenville literally resemble fricking Mogadishu. No matter how trashy the worst parts of the coast are, they don't approach the slums in the Delta. I do appreciate parts of the Delta though.

Thanks for the write up.

I'd be working further inland, but obviously want to live on the coast for the higher quality of life. Jackson County would be the closest to accomplish that goal.

Kind of interested to know what's wrong with Vancleave--most recent scores show that it's an A school. Gauthier and Pascagoula seem to have comparable schools and the travel distance would be negligible.

These Delta guys must be trolling. That area is eaten up with Memphis-affiliated gangs. No way in Hell I'd ever live there.

Bay St Louis is killing it right now. For the 12 or so years I've lived there it's obviously gone through some fairly dramatic changes, but it's on fire now. As long as we keep the casinos out of old town nothing is going to stop this place...well besides another you know what.

Vancleave is alright, medium-sized school, mostly country kids, I've never heard anything bad about it. Real good folks there, actually played football in college with a group of Vancleave guys.
ETA: Depending on where you're working, it's a short ride to George County/Lucedale, or any of the Jackson County schools or city schools there.

I've started digging on the MSGC here lately. It's always been a cool coastal area. The Google Earth time lapse images of the area after Katrina are mind-boggling. But good to see it bouncing back well.

Went to college in Gulfport/Biloxi my freshman year. Thought the area looked pretty decent, but the people were kinda trashy. I remember them having protest with dudes dressed up in old Confederate outfits on the coast About the state flag. That, and they had black spring break there that year. That was a clusterfrick

lived there since 76. When we moved there the places that were considered the best places to live were Ocean Springs, then Long Beach, then Bay St Louis Pass. Now, it is actually the same. Ocean Springs is one of the nicest small towns in America in my opinion, but you need a boat that will get you to horn island to "get it" it is basically a suburb of Biloxi with a huge bar scene now. It is more expensive than the rest of the Coast, but worth it. Almost no crime.

While I grew up in Ocean Springs and may be biased it is clearly the choice, especially if Jackson County is as far west you'll go.

We can chat all day about the positives of Vancleave or Goula, or never find one for Moss Point, but OS is clearly the most well rounded non shite hole of them all. I don't see how an objective person who wants to give their kids the best opportunity (in that area) can choose differently.

Hell, OS has a problem with parents illegally sending their kids into their schools and has to throw them out

Pass Christian has the best public schools on the Coast. Ocean Springs is cool.

There are small pockets of Mississippi that are wonderful. The Coast, Madison, Tupelo, DeSoto, Oxford ... these places are great places to live and raise a family.

The rest of Mississippi is just as bad as you think it is.
