But that isn't technically downtown is it? I was pretty toasty, but I remember it being in a warehouse type area close by.

its 2 streets over from the convention center

i think that pretty much qualifies as downtown

its safe because y'all live in nice, affluent areas, but that is the case for almost every city

The nice affluent areas are the only areas anyone ever sees because the other areas are hidden in tiny pockets away from anything you'll ever want to see. Its extremely segregated (not racially, crime wise).

New Orleans is built like a checkboard of good and bad areas. There is never a reason to go anywhere anything close to "bad". It basically doesn't exist.

And that link you posted doesn't seem to hold up well against almost every other link.

but lets not do that, shall we?

can y'all just not admit that Nashville has legit crime? jesus
Dude there is one year. One, where we were ahead of those southern cities. I just posted 5 other years where it clearly shows Nashville is by far the safest large southern city. You are wrong man.

no.

because i know the city like the back of my hand and have NEVER EVER ONCE felt anything like i felt in NOLA or HOUSTON or BATON ROUGE or ATL.

not even once.

and a few years back i was out riding my bike all over downtown at all hours of the night during my 'divorced single' days.

that includes everything from east nashville to the gulch to midtown to 12 south and then home.

No one is arguing that. We're laughing at your ridiculous assertion that it's as dangerous as New Orleans, Atlanta, Jackson, etc

There are definitely sketchy areas of Nashville. However, it isn't close to an outsiders view of certain areas of Atlanta.

true, but these are getting fewer and further between.

east nashville was the first, woodbine and crieve hall are next on the list to gentrify.

hell, even obama stopped in at la hacienda on nolensville road a few months back which is one of the 'bad' areas.

From the same year, 2012. That is all you have. One link from 2012. Everything else, plus common sense for anyone, shows nashville is far safer than those cities

Other than a few drug dealers at Centennial, I never noticed any dicey or sketchy areas of Nashville. It certainly is a very well kept, manicured, and clean city.

In demographics, I agree they are different. In atmosphere they are similar, although Broadway is far less trashy. Broadway is more similar to Beale than anything in the FQ at least. Obviously pictures don't tell the whole story but if you look at pictures of the two streets, they look virtually identical.

Those pics of Beale are without the "loiterers"

I'll agree it doesn't have the residential aspect like the back of the French Quarter, but its MUCH MUCH MUCH safer and has TONS of bars, restaurants, and entertainment.

And its only a couple miles from midtown and residential areas.
