breun/Division you mean? Or hillsboro village?

I'm not sure? Close to Vandy and that pancake place.

Sylvan Park, yes. But its a neighborhood area with about 6 restaurants and 1 "bar" bar (Neighbors), while the restaurants have good drink environments until midnight or so.

I guess that's it? I thought the park or golf course was named something else though.

Charleston has King St. which is awesome, no doubt. However, its not some 5 mile stretch. [/quote]

Sorry, I meant Magazine Street and not King. You can literally walk from Audubon Park/Whole foods area to the Warehouse Dist. area and see nothing but shops, bars, restaurants, coffee houses, etc. That's close to a 5 mile stretch I believe. And it's all walkable.

But we still have our downtown which is like a clean version of the French Quarter with more Country and less crime

Downtown Nashville doesn't resemble the French Quarter at all. If anything, it's more of a 6th street.

Uptown Nola is not that compact at all. F&M's, Tipitinas, Le Bons Temps, etc. Those aren't all bunched together.

Those are all a 2 minute drive from one another. I guess it's not a 'strip' but it's extremely easy to bar hop in NO.

And there is nothing similar between the Quarter and downtown Nashville at all. Broadway reminds me much more of beale Street than Bourbon.

yep. the evening news sometimes goes for weeks without a murder to report and then its in clarksville or some crazy man out in the country killed some of his 'kin.

"Another cat stuck in a tree" is what my wife says after watching the news.

I'm from Baton Rouge and she's from Jackson. Both spent a lot of time in Nola, Memphis, Atlanta, and Charleston.

I seriously dont trust the link he posted. Here are others where BR, Birmingham, Nola, Atlanta, Memphis are all considerably worse murder/crime stats. Nashville doesnt even show up on some of the lists

Are you just pulling stats out of your arse? Have you been to Nashville? It's a frick ton safer than NO, Br, Jackson. There's no contest.

broadway is just the touristy place. i avoid it unless i just cant help it but after the convention center gobbled up the entire downtown the quality of the entertainment has gone way up.

trendy coffeeshops, pinewood social, the hotel across from the convention center, etc. are all amazing.

just be aware that you cant buy a mixed drink for less than $10-$12 downtown.

Broadway is nothing like Beale in terms of atmosphere and "demographic" and crime.

Nothing.

All the places he named are 2 minute drives in Nashville from each other besides East Nashville.

A lot of people forget that the French Quarter has some very residential areas tucked away in the back. The places have some great, local bars and restaurants....Cosimos..Sylvain...Molly's....Erin Rose...and such. I was in downtown Nashville recently (Music City Bowl disaster) and didn't find that many places like that. It was definitely more geared to tourism.

i can tell you i spent a weekend in ATL and i was scared out of my fricking mind. nashville i will walk around downtown all day & night and even ride my bike all the way from the sticks to downtown without the least concern.

5 minutes in a MARTA station in ATL and i was clearly not in nashville anymore.

to compare the 2 'crimewise' is just ignorance.

read my post. i ride my bike from the boonies to downtown all the time and there's nothing remotely sketchy.

try that with ATL

I love that place. But that isn't technically downtown is it? I was pretty toasty, but I remember it being in a warehouse type area close by.

In demographics, I agree they are different. In atmosphere they are similar, although Broadway is far less trashy. Broadway is more similar to Beale than anything in the FQ at least. Obviously pictures don't tell the whole story but if you look at pictures of the two streets, they look virtually identical.
