We talk about moving back a good bit. Never seem to be able to pull the trigger.

a lot more people live on the Eastern Shore now.

I went over there to visit some family and it is amazing how towns like Spanish Fort have grown.

That town use to mainly be woods in the late 80's/early 90's.

haven't been to daphne or fairhope in awhile but I'm sure its the same type of deal.

traffic sucks on the bay way.

even if they build that I-10 connector it won't be done for several more years.

Only way I'm moving to Eastern Shore is house on the bay or the bluff in Spanish Fort. Otherwise we'll just buy a place in Midtown.

We stayed at a hotel with a baseball team from Fairhope,AL last week. They seemed like good people. They like a cold beer and good company just like LA folks!

Midtown isn't so bad I guess.

I dont live far from Murphy high school. I used to live on Dauphin Island and half the rent with a friend who's parents own the place.

just got tired of driving in to work early in the morning from there five days a week.

plus, anytime there was a threat of a hurricane we had to get out of there. I would have stayed but nobody else would.

Lol.

How is living downtown / midtown around Daphin St, Government and Oakleigh District?

There are definitely some nice areas and beautiful homes, but as a whole area, I don't like it. Too much riffraff mixed in with the nice folk.

You either know nothing about Mobile and are trying to get a rise out of someone, or your entire "Mobile" experiences have all been around I-10 between Mobile and the MS State Line.

Most people I know who rave about how beautiful Mobile is and how wonderful of a place it is has never really lived outside of the region so they do not know any better.

It is one of the dirtiest cities I have ever lived in (thankfully for only a year) - There is nothing beautiful about Airport Road, Schillinger, Theodore, West Mobile, Tillman's Corner, Government Blvd, 90% of downtown, the highways. There is nothing beautiful about any of it except for maybe midtown with the old houses.

I have never lived in a place where it is acceptable to throw trash out of your car window. I would see people throw shite out of their car windows like it was no big deal and you can tell. There is trash everywhere on the side of the roads in Mobile. It's nasty

Mobile has a flea market with over 800 venders that provides something to do on a rainy Sunday.

This X1000

I was fricking this girl from Mobile and for some reason when we got on the topic of Mobile she would spend the majority of the time trying to convince me Mobile is just like NOLA. Obviously I would proceed to tell her how fricking retarded she was.

I live in midtown. Cool vibe. Been here for almost 3 hours. Reminds me of back home (south LA)

Only thing I know about Mobile is that Yen is a great Vietnanese restaurant.

Mobile is much, much smaller. However, it is a very old city like New Orleans. In fact, I think it's older than New Orleans. There's only one Mississippi River, so you can't fault Mobile for not being as extravagant.

I still like Mobile. It has a lot of charm.

I've lived in BR for 22 years, Lafayette for four years, Colorado for a bit and going on 3 years in Mobile. It's not perfect but it's a cool city. Lot going on. Good mixed bag of folks. Very similar lifestyle to south Louisiana.
