I've heard Bistro on the Bayou out by the old air base is pretty decent.

Drive 10 miles to Boyce and try Janohn's. I've not been, but it is getting decent buzz. Steak and seafood in an old cotton gin.

probably the best place in the area weird that its in freaking Boyce
True.
I've lived in/around Alex for 18 years now, and not real impressed with any of the restaurants. I usually go to Tunks, Janohns, or Robbie G's for seafood. Bellino's is good for steaks/tuna. Krispy Kajun Chicken (Big Chicken) moved here and took over as the best fried chicken joint in town IMO. Spirits has live music Wed. and Thur. with a good atmosphere, but meh food.
Sho be a lot of hate for Ellick in here

I hope to god you like to hunt and fish. Specifically fish/water sports since you'll be there for summer. If not, you will be bored senseless if you don't know anyone. Source: I grew up there

What type of work/where are you working?

I work in Alexandria. Have been for the past 5 years. It is pretty laid back and the night life sucks a big monkey dick. Decent places to eat. Just depends on the day.

Chili's is the most patronized restaurant in that city.

Nah. We have a deal to meet up anytime they want, anywhere in the world that is not Alexandria.

Great deal for them because it gets them out of that shithole, at least for a little while.

I just learned Generous George's Positive Pizza & Pasta Place went out of business several years ago. I'm sad.

Armpit of Louisiana. We have some friends that are currently moving from there to near us in DFW.

Are you going to work at the paper mill?

I lived in Alex/P'ville for about 5 years back in the mid-90's. Worst fricking period of my life.

From what I understand the downtown is starting to revitalize (the Bentley is under renovations and expected to re-open with some of the area made over into condos). Still, unless you are the outdoor type and/or love meth, it's going to suck major arse for you.
